Well I have seen RammaR in a few games but I don't remember if he was on that list or not.

Now today, I see Uncle Sam as the only highly active player. So I would have to agree with Slim I guess. Not many left.

Now this would be an interesting game to see -- 3 corps made up of the above players in a 20k sector 750 turn game. It is a game that we will probably never see though.
I am afraid that we have lost a lot of very good players to Eve. I know that Timbo, Blue Adept and others are playing that now. Hoping that the twars players are giving the others in Eve a very good run.

well prom, in that list, there are some good players, BUT, there are players out there that IMO are better than some on that list that arent listed and still play. a while ago i was trying to get a group of players, about half of which are on that list, to get into a game. within the next month maybe i'll try to get that game going still, i know jher and PR (probably) appear to be ready and hopping to get into a good game, DU is usually up for a good game, and various other good players who arent on perma's are around too.
basically what i did was contact a few CEO's of permas or good players and say, hey, im setting up a game and lookin for good players, bring your perma/group of friends and we can have a good game. cept then my corp (myself included) kinda got busy with other crap and it never got finished. ill start a new thread tonight about setting up a game in a while, see who all is interested, maybe make it more open, rather than invitation only. i guess ill see who all is interested.

No. It's a list of the best players. Who cares about tournaments and stuff? These guys just ARE the BEST. Or were I guess. [:(]

It was a list of who didaskalos thought the best players were, in alphebetical order. It was players who were active at that time.

Its a shame that game never went down. Woulda been a fun one to watch and maybe even more fun to play in, if one was so invited.

I would have to agree, the days of many of those playing are long gone. But, I also have no interest in seeing another list of "top players", as everybody had their opinion of what made a top player. To be honest, I have played with some people who were considered "top players" but their friends, and I didn't think they were that knowledgable. Also I have played with people who didn't make Diddy's list, and I thought should have probably been there.
What would be nice would be a BOTE style game, were each server sent their top players to get a good competition game together. The problem is the style of games today. You have 3 groups.
1.) Old School: Prefer 3-6 month games.
2.) Unlim School: Prefer super ships, planets, and 5 day games.
3.) Middle of the Road: Prefer faster pace, but 1-2 month games.
I know I fall in choice 3. While I don't mind winning early, or a long game if it is full of action, I would prefer a good 1 month game of solid action.
Perhaps someone will try to host a tournament again, and see what happens.

Of the three schools, are the Old School folks really that competitive? Are the three schools just levels of skill? I know that an unlimited game will go faster by nature, but what is the real difference between Old School and Middle of the Road?
I would like to see a series of games, a couple of unlimited games and a couple high powered limited games with the same corps (or same players) competing for a cash/equivalent prize.

I'm sure if someone put up a big prize people would.
In answer, no the primary competition in competitive play comes from the Middle of the Roaders, and some of the unlimers.
