No, the Tournament Team will continue as planned. I'm working on the details of it now and should be posting something the the team forum in the next day or two. It was a good day, and there is someone who will be taking over my role.

Sorry to hear you can't make the game Rave, thanks being honest with us all before hand. At least I have found out one thing about you, you might talk trash and not back it up but your pride isn't to big in the end to back out.

And thinking that anyone player can take on 20 people is a JOKE. Xide might be a good hunter/casher/whatever but even one solo RED cashing 100% can't keep up with the ftr production of 20 blues planet farmering/pair port trading.

One important lesson for everyone out of this: Real Life is more important--It is only a game.



RES--You ever finish a game that you were CEO of? I could care less about people saying your cheating just wondering if you ever completed a game....

Cheating---why do I hear so much about this shiznit all the time? In my books the only way to cheat is to create duplicate accounts to do more work. If the game lets you hit the keystrokes with your one character to make an event happen in the game then it isn't cheating.

Really, it doesn't have anything to do with not being willing to back it up, or pride. As I get more involved in the day to day operations of EIS it becomes less and less fair to other players for me to play in the game. Also, the more involved I become the less time I have to play. The downside of supporting a game I love is that I feel I need to restrict when, where and what kinds of games I can participate in. ;o(

This is really a misconception. You can produce a bazillion fighters a day, but if you're ship only holds 50,000 fighters (i.e., an ISS, I only need 50,031 fighters to pod and #SD# you, regardless of how many fighters you have back home. ;o) Really, these You vs. The World games should have a death limit of 2 or 3. Otherwise the obvious case would be that The World team simply overwhelms the solo player.

With a death limit, it would be quite possible for a solo player to take on 20 or more average players and win. Throw even one or two high-profile players into the mix, and the odds of the solo winning decrease exponentially with the addition of each such highly skilled player.

I can't believe I'm going to come to Res' defense... I can't say whether Res has finished any games that he was CEO of, but he's finished numerous games that he's started (dare I assume the majority?). He's also a very skilled players and certainly one of the top three deadliest people playing the game today.

If you are playing a game with the only rules being the rules the game itself imposes on you, then yes, your above example of duping would be the only real way to cheat (aside from blatant bug use). If, however, you're playing a game that has additional rules laid out from the Sysop and/or Gameop/Moderator, and you break one of those rules, that's also a case of cheating.

Regardless, I hate discussing cheats and cheating in general. It's just not a productive topic, so with that said, I withdraw myself from that particular thread of the conversation.

Brainstormed a bit last night. I would like to go with current settings of the game I banged, as seen in the other thread. But to make it more fair Xide will go solo, against Haolemon's 6 man corp. Here is the good part. Xide has a death limit of 6. Each one of Haolemon's guys has a death limit of 1. I think that would make the game positively fascinating. If I cannot get Haolemon to lead the World team, I will look to the TWA to field the first World team, if they are up to it. Someone, let me know soon so we can get this underway! .

Oh sure, make it easy for Xide... a 6 man corp is not "The World," and is not following in the spirit of my original goal when I suggested the game. The idea was for one solo player (me) to take on any and all comers simultaneously. If you keep the solo player's death limit equal to the number of opponents, it still gives them an opportunity to fight overwhelming odds while allowing the World Team to keep them out of the game. In a game like this, the solo playing dying will just put the Team World that much further ahead. It's a good setup this way, and I think it would work fine.

Rave, not everyone is as brave (suixidal) as you are, hence 6 on 1 . If Xide or anyone else wants to accept all commers as you were planning, I will go with that too. But, in the interest of getting at least one game like this to happen, I have to find a setting that is acceptable to the lamb, preparing for his slaughter .

Xide versus 6 players? Lamb preparing for his slaughter? LoL. I'll bet one rbot that the game is over in at most three days and Xide isn't podded once, let alone #Ship Destroyed#.
