The UTW Server will start running games again on July 4Th at 7pm eastern time.

The new version TWGS software crashed the server and so I reinstalled the older stable 20k sector version. Unfortunately, many of the game data bases need to be repaired before I can restart them, including all the perpetual games as well as Game A: Empires, a game that has been running since 2003.

I'm opening the server with 5 games.

Game C: Subzero, 3 man Teams: 20k, Unlimited: 1 Day Truce

Game G: Battlestar, 3 man teams: 20k, Unlimited: 3 Day Truce

Game D: Ferrengi, 3 man teams: 20k, Unlimited: 3 Day Truce

Game Y: Stock Classic, 10k, 1500 Turns, No Truce / No Rules

Game T: Friendly Building Game: 20k, 40K Turns: Combat by Mutual Consent Only!

i wouldnt mind playing the Battlestar game if someone needs a corpie (my favorite edit). But holy smokes.. Sage pops up w/o a word what happened, will it happen again, or even acknowledge that he's ok. Yeah, it's mostly none of our biz... But golly gee, i think he owes us something. Or am i wrong?

after close to 4 months without a word, a return with no explanation. To add to that, no ICQ notification for the games. I used to get 2, one from each of sages ICQ #'s.

I hardly realized that they were gone except for the fact that the game rebangs forum got a bit less activity. However, TW can always use another server that might attract some new players to the game. Welcome back UTW.

People are just curious since he comes back after 4 moths and basically blames the BETA for the server crash. Welcome back, but sorry there is more to the story than what is being told.

Making that 4th moth after already taking 2 pods can sometimes end up with you getting time off to think about things.

As much as I enjoyed the building game on UTW, even going so far as to getting a couple of people to attempt duplicating it for me when UTW went offline, I don't see myself going back to it anytime in the near future.

My free time is probably the thing I value most, and when UTW disappeared without a trace, the time I put into that game became wasted. And while I agree with Crosby that Sage and UN do not owe anybody an explanation, those of us who spent countless hours building our "empires" in the various games would greatly appreciate one.

I would like to blame my medication on the typo "months", but I would just say it was bad proof reading. lol
I have thought about it and realized that it is because my tablet does not refresh as fast as I can type.

All the Friendly Building Games are still on the server. The user data base was scrambled by the TWGS upgrade. The 3 games in question, Game A, Game K and Game X should all be available in the near future at which time, you should be able to go back into your game and continue where you left off.

I'd like to know if the data corruption resulted from the current public release, or you ran one of the pre-release betas. If the current version is corrupting older games, I want to fix it. I wish you'd exported your games before updating because I could really use some test data to help clean that up (and you wouldn't have lost your games!).

In any case, I'm sorry for any inconvenience it caused you and your players. Reports I'm receiving indicate that the new version is very stable at this point, so you shouldn't be afraid to upgrade. But as always, it doesn't hurt to back up your data before upgrading. I wish I'd made that more clear to you before you lost your valuable games :(

I wouldn't fret too much about it John. Sage knows how to back up his files before upgrading, and if he doesn't he should. Also, I've never seen any kind of corruption or upgrade that would cause a server to be down for at long as UTW was offline.
