Subject: STIMILUS PLAN EXPLAINED

Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics professor and says, "I don't understand this stimulus bill. Can you explain it to me?"

The professor replied, "I don't have any time to explain it at my office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my weekend project, I'll be glad to explain it to you." The student agreed.
At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor's house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his backyard pool.

They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the student a bucket. Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor said, "First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water as you can." The student did as he was instructed.

The professor then continued, "Follow me over to the shallow end, and then dump all the water from your bucket into it." The student was naturally confused, but did as he was told.
The professor then explained they were going to do this many more times, and began walking back to the deep end of the pool. The confused student asked, "Excuse me, but why are we doing this?"
The professor matter-of-factly stated that he was trying to make the shallow end much deeper.

The student didn't think the economics professor was serious, but figured that he would find out the real story soon enough. However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep end, the student began to become worried that his economics professor had gone mad.

The student finally replied, "All we're doing is wasting valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits. Even worse, when this process is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before, so all you'll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could have been truly productive action!"

The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile, "Congratulations. You now understand the stimulus bill."

Is that a joke?

No wasn't intened as a joke. Just me putting a picture to what I feei our government is doing to really screw things up again. Yep, blame the previous administration for a record deficate, then spend more than those 8 years combined on something that's doomed to fail.
I'm just really PO'd at our current government and situation. Feels like we're on a runaway train without the rails. Not sure where it's going, can't stop it, you just know it's gonna end bad!

The only problem I have with the stimulus plan is that I'm not personally included in the payouts.

And hey, Obama, if you're reading this... I could do a lot of stimulatin' with a few hundred million dollars. I'd sure feel stimulated.

Ahhhh. Just seen his speech on the news. I know where your all coming from now. It makes the op more funny now.

I know there are good points to the plan, but there's all the pork included. I didn't know the Dems were farmers till now.
Just getting a little to free with yours and MY tax dollars.

Laff. Well, not really our tax dollars. It's all going on debt, debt that you and I will probably never have to pay back. So technically we're playing fast and loose with Chinese-funded debts that our children will have to pay off thru inflation.

Not me. I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation.

+ Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.

+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies.

+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Stimulating the economy...

Bailouts? Let's see.

Banking: We give taxpayer money to banks so they can loan it back to the taxpayer and charge interest on the taxpayer's money to make profits. Hmmm, who is getting stimulated and who is getting something else w/o a kiss? Provide money to the taxpayer, they pay their bills, the banks stay solvent.

Auto Industry: Again, taxpayer money going to a group of people so they can manufacture product for the taxpayer to buy (while the auto industry makes profits), using taxpayer money that is borrowed from a bank (see above). Once again, someone is getting stimulated and the taxpayer is getting........

CEOs: Company is failing so it gets taxpayer money. Bottom line goes up with the influx of cash, and the board of directors gives the CEO a nice 6 figure (conservative) bonus. The taxpayer just gets a bone.

A revolving theme seems to be taking place. The taxpayer is providing money so another group can then make profits off of the taxpayer. If anyone here would like to provide me with a few thousand bucks, I would be more than happy to pay you 6% interest on it and lend you a few thousand back to you at 18% interest. Someone would be getting a stimulus.....
