Recently in a game, we were hunting other corp.
and had call saveme setup. in finding said corp
2 of them jumped me and i called saved, and landed on planet.
now in the mix of things, i guess one of them was able to try
a landing, and was sitting a fighter prompt as a hitchiker.
or plan was, if thay are going to fallow this planet around and matbe cap it, we can set a trap. anyway what im asking is feedback
on what others have done in this situation and info?.
to our luck, server went down, and when backup, hitch was in sec
and we beat him up for not paying his share of fuel bill.

I have also recently had this happen to one of our planets while evacuating them from a raid. This opposing player was able to stay in planets atmosphere and move to 2 seperate, new locations along with the planet.
As far as setting a trap is concerned, try having a corpie send a Ptorp into the sector with the planet. The opposing trader would not be protected by planetary shields so it should hit them.

Nod, they're vulnerable to photons, but that doesn't get them off of your planet. If they are riding on the shields, theres a little trick to get them off. Strip ALL of the planet shields off and turn the atmo Q up high enough to pod them. Once the shields have been removed, if the rider hits any key, including a # to avoid timing out, the Q will fire at them. If there is someone riding on the fig prompt, I don't know of any way to get them off short of detting the planet.

Psion - They will only get blasted if they do one of the options listed. If they use a global (like / or #), the won't get hit. It is good for catching the unwary, though. Just ask Jhereg The only sure way to get someone off of the shields/figs is to zdy the planet. As a side note, if someone has made it all the way to the figs, there is nothing you can do besides hope they lift off.

Just because this happened to me just the other day, if someone makes it to the figs, you can simply remove the figs and the person will automatically end up at the planet prompt, snow white and i must have thrown each other off the planet twice each before it was blown up because she wasnt sure if i was still on the planet or not!

Hmmm...Godzilla, is this happening on my server? And if it is, what can I do to fix it or is it a bug in the game?

Its not a bug, per se. And nothing can be done, it just is.

In Answer to Ahab.....Yes in game I, on your server. Jolly Roger -
AKA(jester) was the Stowaway, and he screamed Cheat, and a "BS" kill, when your server went down, and booted him off the planet.
and Caretaker, loged on first and killed him. their team truly
belives I mail you AHAB and got you to drop server!
I will admit it was perfect timeing your server went down.
and thay did stay-up for hours, trying to login first.
So i can see where thay would be real pissed.
But to say CHEAT, is just plane Bad Sprortmanship!

It is much better to have someone at the figs prompt than actually on the planet. Once they are on the planet prompt, you're really screwed, as they can claim the planet back, move it, whatever.

It depends on the planet settings. How hard the quasar cannon is shooting, that sort of thing. Once you are at the attack figs/shields prompts, you are no longer visable in the sector and move with the planet.

To make matters worse.... Once they have claimed the planet, they can evict.

But you can only evict someone who is in the citadel.
