Re: UTW - Anyone heard from Sage?
You can host a basic TWGS server yourself anywhere from $50 to $200 a month. A good server on T3 fiber will probably cost a good bit more than $200 a month however.

You can get a windows 2008 R2 VPS on a co-loc for like $30/mo. You can get a co-loc at theplanet for $150/mo.

Re: UTW - Anyone heard from Sage?
Well at present the evidence is supportive to the opposite. And most likely you do not really know for sure, while you had most likely met SG, I highly doubt that you had actually met either both or all of them.
Though there could be quite a few other possibilities, such as that Space Ghost was the one actually running UTW while perhaps using Sage’s handle to make UTW related posts and both U.N. Owen and Sage (regardless if they were actually one in the same or not) had long ago left TW (without leaving notice to the TW public); although there are just way to many coincidences between the three for much practical variation to exist.
As to using a VPS, just to add a few comments on that, Window Internet shared-resource servers are just way too slow and complicated, you will most likely have to setup the system all on your own or pay somebody hundreds to do a basic configuration for you, and last time I had checked into doing something like that there was an issue with the necessity of rebooting and something else, I think possibility to do with telnet accessing, but I don’t really remember exactly what it was anymore.

Ultimately*, I'd take Sings, JP's, et al., word that they are not one in the same.. my point is simply that SG and Sage had a dedication to the game that went beyond the norm.. SG's Car and Arm-Chair.. Sage with his constant and relentless rebangs. * - Couldn't resists.

Re: UTW - Anyone heard from Sage?
I am also certain SG was in fact SG, but I highly doubt the instances of Sage and U.N. Owen. Also Agatha Christie novels just sounds so like SG, I can imagine him reading that crap.
Well there you have it then, that makes the case just that much stronger. If say UTW was in fact running from his car then whoever was taking care of his possessions most like shut everything down, cancelled his services, and secured everything afterward.
Also you have to admit that was a bit strange and over the top for somebody to actually do and that there was definitely some extreme TW dedication there. Which also dovetails with the assertions made by Sage that UTW consistently had like what 30-70-plus actual players active any given day (and most certainly in reality that was wholly bogus and somebody was running a bunch of dupe players giving the appearance of such).
Oh also didn't both Sage and SG love to use bright colors in their posts, yellow for Sage and orange for SG, I think it was?

I've also had ICQ and email chats with Sage. They are very different ppl, and they lived no where near each other. No. A VPS is a dedicated CPU and ram virtual machine running under a virtual instance. You can get virtual machines now that provide more ram than servers had even 5 years ago. Navhaz is a virtual machine, pings well for most people, and has 1gb of ram. The entire configuration cost me, eh, $27 a month. I didn't need any special config. I did have to request the ISP open up port 23 on their firewall to my VPS IP, but that was nothing more than a ticket request and cost me nothing. I could've used port 2002 and skipped that had I wanted.

Wow you are really pushing hard on that story --which is not a very tight argument with all things considered, but that’s fine though. Although unless you have personally been at their residences you are only presuming whatever they told you to the truth. So far as IP’ go they can no longer be relied upon, you can cheaply ghost an IP to appear in most major cities throughout the world. Navhaz is a virtual machine, pings well for most people, and has 1gb of ram. Sure they could be although for the purposes of Web service providers that would not be at all cost effective, VPS resources are usually allocated for say five sites at a maximum output of 20% for each one, as a basic example. Well I find it hard to believe that they could actually afford to provide you with your very own computer for that little of an amount, that would barely cover the electricity fees, but if you say so. That is good that the ACP and server-side configuration now comes ready upon purchase, though that could also depend upon the company’s policies. Say didn’t you have your own professional networking business or something that you were running your TW server and site from, why did you decide to switch over to another provider?

It's clear you don't know what you're talking about. Trivius wrote: Say didn’t you have your own professional networking business or something that you were running your TW server and site from, why did you decide to switch over to another provider? No, I've never ran a networking business. I do have a few web sites that I haven't sold off, but they're mostly hosted on reseller accounts now. I was running navhaz off my home network, but comcast became too unreliable.
