Actually, that kind of has the opposite effect. Because
people have limited times at keys, and all bots now
(more or less) support time management, you end up
with people that bot all of their time because they can't
be at keys with everyone else. Bots now have the
ability to log in and out on command.
It does reduce grid defense (assuming a time penalty
is in place too), but it increases the amount of gridding.
I have bot-based gridding scripts, all I'd have to do is
tie them into the TL monitor and grid every few hours
when nobody else is online. I could automate most of
it, and it would be tough to stop me. This turns TL
games into script war games. I see that a lot.
What we really need is a way to enforce uptime hours
on a game. We will have the capability do that in the
beta.
