 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
Rev, Right now I am sitting on a beach 1200 miles from my TWGS... whatever was going on, it wasn't me. I am checking mail once a day or so, and if it gets bad, or starts up again, I can try a remote reboot, but I do not want to try that unless I need to. The good news is that the day after I get back is the day Ice9 switches to FIOS. Which I think will solve a lot of the connectivity issues that have been occurring off and on. Thanks for letting me know though, and email me at ice9sysop@gmail.com if the problem starts up again. I check that one more frequently since I can use my iTouch for it. ~V'Ger Enjoying the Florida Sunshine

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
thanks for the reply. i'm on vacation too so i'm email handicapped. i look forward to the new fios. i hope that means you will move the twgs to ethernet instead of wireless...??? i think half of the stability issues are due to the wireless connection.

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
well, the server has been on the fritz all day. i have a log of my activity for the day and its full of relogging attempts. we can't even complete a port buydown without having to relog. at this point, i think risking a reboot is worth it. i'm not sure that the problem is with the server or not, but even if the server fails to reboot, at least then we won't have to deal with constant relogs. i dunno - any other opinions?

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
This is the worst I have ever seen, if I make more than 1 move....boom reboot.... I was hoping it was just me....but it appears to be server wide. Curious if something is hanging 100% CPU usage or if there is something else going on, maybe a script malfunction caught in a loop? not sure, it is only TW and in can wait since the other team can't move safely either Quent

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
Well I just popped into the server, and I know the following:
1) Nothing is spiking the CPU. 2) Nothing is hogging the memory. 3) All scripts seem to be behaving normally.
I have also spoken to several people who have said that it has gotten better since this morning. If that remains the case, I am going to leave it as is, but if it gets worse again I will try a remote reboot and hope it comes back up.
I have done tests in the past, and do not think that it is wireless related, but regardless, I am going to try to get FIOS to punch the ethernet connection near the computer so that there at will be off the wireless.
I'll be checking email once or twice a day, and will do what I can to improve the situation.

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
I remotely rebooted ice9's server today at approx 8:15pm EST. Please let me know if this solved the problem.

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
We appreciate the effort while your on vacation.....but after reboot it started again about 5 minutes later. It would appear to be either your router or ISP.
Either way thanks for the effort.

T0y i second this assessment. it is still messed up. i dunno what the root cause is, but let it ride until you get back from vacation.

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
Sorry that I can't do more. As I said, I am hoping my move to FIOS will fix this.

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
Well it's been 18 hours since a forced relog.......pings are back to normal......leads me to think we really don't need a Sysop if it can fix itself Hope vacation is going well.....and I am slightly joking T0y

 Re: ic9 is freaking out!!!
I know ICE9 definitely needs a sysop... and I also know it definitely does not need a T0yman.
