Hopefully I am mistaken, but I thought radiation lifetime such as a 7 day setting would prevent dock from being restored for 7 days. Am I correct on the radiation/stardock connection?

Granted I know T-Edit can restore dock.

Yes, it does, but it IIRC occurs on a cycle and not a "7 days from having been blown." So if mod(V date/rad time) = 0, rebuild.

k, game had been going for a day when I blew dock. I was hoping I was wrong and it wasn't the sysOp resetting dock, but I believe it was. No rules against it on his site and he stated that he wouldn't mess with the edits after a game was in progress. To me restoring dock in less than the radiation time or before the cycle is messinig with the edit.

Why not just ask him? I'm sure he'd tell you.

No IM for contact. I found an email address and he has forums - don't really want to join another forum. I was hoping he would read the messages here, esp since I posted about it in his game bang when responding to Zarkahn.

Interesting point, I'd never looked at it like that, but I guess you're right unless the sysop reserves that right.

Sometimes blowing dock is a valid strategy.

Early last year I got into a game where there was 1 guy trying to build up late in an unlim. The sysop wasn't paying any attention despite 2 months of me going "hey, needs a rebang." So when this guy came in trying to build in an unlim I'd been stuck in for over a month... naturally it was kill time.

Killed him numerous times, but he would never move if I was online... and over the course of reboots I'd forget about it. He'd try to build a base, I'd find it. Only way he had to get figs was to buy them from class 0s. So... blow dock, blow the class 0s. 30 day rad clear... made it mighty hard for him. He cby'd a few days later.

There are other times of course. If you have some guy buying out ships or ore wh0ring... or even in turny games where you stock up your supply of ships, then blow dock to limit the enemy's restocking capability (esp stuff like ptorps) for a few critical days.

If the sysop doesn't like it, easy way to fix the problem is to reduce rad clear to 1 day... or pre-blow dock a bunch of times.
