Sorry, Runaway Protons Forums got spammed bad last night.  I'm cleaning out the forums now, but be aware that the posts are of adult nature, and do contain viruses.  I'm switching my registration to admin approval so that I have to be alerted when a new user registeres and I have to approve it.  Might take you longer to register, but will help keep this from happening again.
 

That won't help all spam tho.

The solution is multi-part. I use a better captcha, I've added the humanizer, added a custom random tag in the form to prevent bulk signups and added spamwords to prevent people from using certain words.

There's also a nice mod called "admin userlist" that lets you delete all posts by any given user... which saves you a LOT of cleanup time.

I saw a mod a while back that also counts the signup and posting time and if it doesn't take atleast 3 seconds, it denies the signup or post. Pretty cool idea, too.

In my contact form I use a URL counter like wordpress does. If you send more than 2 urls it won't send the message... since a lot of spammers are URL spammers that fixes that problem too.

Since I started modding my forums this way I haven't had a single spambot. Only 1 guy posted cell phone spam, and that was by hand... easily fixed by spamwords.

Well I'm going to have a minor surgery tommorrow to repair a hurnia, but when I'm back I'll have to look up those mods and figure out how to implement them.  Thanks!
 

Don't forget to try to install that php code I sent to you for the forum, if it is phpbb the code should work well.

just a little note that you have really to be carefull with spammer and in the case where there would be childporn you need to report it to the authority not just clean it.
I have a good friend that was owning a forum and a spam bot putted such picture and publicity on his forum. since he was away for the week-end he couldn't take it off before someone notify the authorities.
