I have been working on a Star Wars edit for Trade Wars for a little while now. I have finally got it to the point that I am ready to test it out with actual players. Up until this point, I have spent most of my time doing math to get the alien spawn values correct and keep a fair ship balance. That is all fine and good, but the real test of a new edit is actual players.
I have 30 custom ships that completely replace the stock ships. I also have 9 alien races, the Empire, the Rebel Alliance, Darth Vader, The Emperor, Boba Fett and Han Solo out there.
The problem with an edit like this is balance. I tried real hard to make sure each ship had pros and cons. I also took into account that most players like high turn and unlimited turn games so I designed the edit to be either a 20,000 turn per day game or an unlimited turn game. This means that I had to make the aliens get more powerful in a shorter amount of time.
With each of these changes I have significantly altered the original balance of the game so I am looking for some play testers who would be willing to play around in the game and let me know what they think. Are the aliens too hard or too easy, is one ship super useful and the others all worthless and things like that.
