you forgot about cussing grimy - if you say a curse word to him you lose one aln point, but it only works once a day.

also, you can say BRIBE and then ask about TRADERS and he will give you a location where they recently ported - as long as that port is not figged - which would be meaningful in these edits. i haven't had much use for this since most competitive games involve lots of gridding - so i don't know what amount of money is a big enough bribe to get really current information out of him.

yeah i forgot about that caveat - grimy only finds people by their ship name, which is why many players use the name "The Merchant Marines" for their ship - the idea being that if lots of people have the same ship name, then grimy's info is ambiguous at best.

There are other ways to confuse grimy too. But that is my little secret.

Actually the default ship name for portings in TW is "The Merchant Marines." I'm not sure if that particular bug still works, but I know that it is still the default ship porting.

Another easy way is simply to create a sitter and give your PPT ship a different name. That way when they grimy for you they have to do it when you're out actively trading, not when you're offline. If you always sleep in a ship that has never ported in an unfigged sector then there's no report to give.

I usually just name all my ships "." or something equally ambigious (same with planets). Makes is impossible to distinguish who's doing what, the best you get in a corp game is "corp X has been near Y." In most games this is rather less than useful as people just grid where they go... but in a game without much grid, eh... that changes things.

Don't know if you'd be interested, but I have a Zoc/Rexx script that will pre-seed the uni with planets. It was written for the stock planets and may need to be tweaked to work with the Blue Heaven edits.

No reason to get rid of gentorps, just make ships have 10k+ shields. If someone runs into haz, well... there comes a point where people have to watch out for themselves a bit.

Gens aren't going anywhere. Nav dispersion is 50%. And, yes, sometimes, ppl need to scan and move. I can't hold hands all the time.

now it's been a while, but iirc when you BRIBE grimey, the FIRST place he checks is the trader's last port (in tedit, in the player info, there is "last ported" [sector]) if it is figged, he then goes to ship name. I tested this because i found a bug where you can give yourself a *truely* untrackable shipname, but when bribed, he still can find you if you don't lay a fig.
I may be off my rocker as this was long ago..
someone should test this again as i am curious
