If by CBM64 = Commodore 64 -- guilty as charged. 4 times the memory of my first computer a TI-994/A.
I am also running IE7 with the fix that SC posted, however the telnet window opens and then quickly closes. Looks like I still need to tweak some settings.
Opera handles Telnet w/o any problems. I will have to try FF to see what it happens to offer.

Just to further prove my point, Sage uses IE, nuff said!

Actually the PitchDark theme is very similar to the theme I use in Opera.

Yeah, even though I am using Mozilla, and Maxthon now, I still went in and "fixed" my IE7 install. Thanks for the patch.

Firefox does have several extensions that help
to make it run faster by preloading and caching the web pages. Personally
though, I don’t really notice any difference in loading pages between IE and FF
(using a DSL connection), probably really only fractions of a second if any at
all. Though FF does render so much better then IE. Additionally, FF can be set
to load a page using an IE engine if you set it to in your options menu, with
the help of the IE Tab extension of course. Overall FF is much more complex then
IE, so that would cause it to take longer to load, initially.
