Me and a couple other people went to play game B on Darkstar server. he has some rules.. no fed blockades, ok, we asked him what he considered a fed blockade.
5:17:49 PM F Darkst 1 fig is not a blockade.
5:18:10 PM F Banned is 9?
5:18:14 PM F Darkst If you stick with the spirit of the rules here you will never have any problems.
5:18:32 PM F Darkst More than 1.
ok, 1 fig is not a blockade.. but thats all we ever had, so no problem.
5:26:22 PM F Darkst You wont have anyone do that on Game A or B.. they are advanced games with some good players.
These elite players are crying on the darkstar forums about us violating rules. what rules? we cleared the 1 fig surround with the sysop, and he said game A and B are ok to kill in, no truces of any kind. now let me show what he posted on his forum
quote:Corporation #12 <]-FoRGoTTeN-[> have continually broken the rules on bloackading SD. They have also show themselves to be less than honorable players. They forfit all planets, ships and monies. The game will continue. All alien planets in Corp #12 control will be returned to the aliens who created them. The following players have been asked to leave. Magnus, Hello and Banned. If anyone see's these players return to the game and follow the same course as before, please notify me either here or at darkstar@darkstarbase.com. Thanks to all who have played Game B. I look forward to returning Game B back to a enjoyable place to play Tradewars.
not only are we violating rules that dont exist, but we are "less than honorable players"
sysop is making up rules as he goes along, i would definatly watch out for this place.

I think it was me probing from dock. I was afk most of the time
but would come back and see people warping in and out.. When I
saw this I'd take a quick shot w/ an attack macro... usually
hitting them (they don't know how to mow and never bothered to
ask). I normally have ftr hit sounds on so if they happened
to hit a ftr before they got there (which happened quite a
bit) it made this especially easy.
To make matters even funnier most were using the backdoor to get
in, leaving dock surrounded by our loney little ftr... giving
them no room to pod out. Lord save us from newbie sysops.
Of course people kept bringing on dupes and slamming into the
grid anyway, despite being hunted and killed down within seconds.
Too funny that we're the ones that take the blame for it. I think
I even got banned. Getting banned for not being a complete idiot...
that's a new one for me.
I even asked the sysop several times to clarify his rules on
stuff like this and the answer was always something generic and
vague like "don't do anything you normally wouldn't do" ... which
is fine, I normally do exactly what I did this game. Guess that's
not quite what he meant, tho. Too bad I never learned how to do
that nifty ESP thing.

Hmmm! Another thread concerning Stardock Blockades. Where have I heard this before? Pretty easy to keep newbies out isn't it?

You obviously don't have a clear definition of what an "Advanced" game is Big D...
LOL
How many newbs do you see logging onto a server and saying to themselves, 'Oi, I want the advanced game instead of the noobie friendly one..." It's not like they're going to wonder why they're flying a pod if they do, and they tend to stay out of "Advanced" games. Sheesh

BD, I don't have a problem w/ sysops doing things to remedy
stardock blockades. Rules can be made to work if they're really
specific, otherwise... what's the point? What I had a problem
w/ in the last thread was the addition of 7 new sectors to solve
a problem that could already be done thru conventional means.
Re-inventing the wheel and causing problems along the way.
Oso, a lot of new players do this because they don't consider
themselves "new" as they've been "playing" since 199x or 198x.
There's a big difference between new players and capable players.
I've met new players that, given time, could cream all of us.
And met some that have been around for 10 years and still can
barely write a macro. What people need is an open mind, that
above all else (the newest tech, gizmos, scripts, whatever)
gets you thru games it seems. But you get a small group of people
that play against each other and suddenly someone new comes in
and creams then with stuff they've never seen (like the ability
to hit CTRL-A in less than 5 seconds) and rather than taking
the high road... they take the low road and call cheat. I don't
get that at all, but it happens. Of course this is not isolated
only to TW, it happens everywhere in life. When someone kicks my
butt I want to learn how so I can do it later... some people just
want to retreat back and forget it ever happened.

Dude, read the thread. I never said anything about this game in partictular. I never said anything about advanced games, I don't know why in the world anyone would have a "NO sd block rule" in an advanced game anyway. That would be sort of pointless.

Everyone get this straight. I don't, repeat don't have a probelm with SD blockades. I can get in and out of the SD with easy in just about any game against whoever the <blank> is playing. I win most of the games I play, advanced or not. It's not how good you are, it's how many good corpies you know. That is a true fact.
I also agree there are several ways for a sysop to make a game right for new players. I consider truce games, ALL TRUCE GAMES, newb games.
I consider games with "NO STAR DOCK BLOCKS" as newb games. Now I ask you this. Is everyone that plays those type games newbs? lol
