Windows ME had a simular problem with Tradewars programs, IIRC. It was due to the drivers that shipped with ME being buggy, and ME itself was buggy. Some XP drivers are buggy, and need newer ones. When you access the Internet, for example, via TWX, your network card or modem driver throws an exception and forces a reboot of the system.
I think that updating the drivers would be a lot easier to do than to just throw out the hardware. At least give the changing of the drivers a try.

But then, what do I know? I've just been fixing problems exactly like this for years now and have over 25 years of experience with computers. Don't listen to me, don't even attempt to update the drivers. In fact listen to the people telling you to quit Tradewars and buy a new system and throw away the old one and start playing WoW. That sure seems to make a whole lot more sense that visit the web site for your motherboard, modem, network card, video card, etc makers and download new drivers from them and install them. LMAO Blaster, I had to get new drivers to the XP and now it works fine with my vid card and sound card as well as my helpers now. I think you gave the best advise on this as any could, and now back to our program.
Abbott and Costello meet Trade Wars.
Hehe.

Well I am glad that someone thinks I give good advice. Everyone else seems to think that I am either:
#1 An Idiot
#2 Crazy
#3 Uninformed
#4 Trollish
#5 Uncouth
#6 Tactless
#7 Unfunny
#8 Hard to understand
#9 Prone to emotional fits
#10 Fictional
One of them, some of them, or all of the above.
Yeah sure, it could be a driver issue, but we'll never know if that is the case if he just messes around on the forum and never actually takes my advice to download new drivers and install them and then see if the problem goes away.
New XP drivers fixed problems for me too. Sometimes they fix performace issues as well with video cards, sometimes they don't, your milage may vary.

Yeah I forgot that I am an Honorary Underpants Gnome, here is our business plan:
#1 Steal Underpants
#2 ?
#3 Profit!
We haven't figured out step #2 yet. Once we do, we will hit an IPO and take our stock public. Until that happens, I am an Angry Underpants Gnome, because people keep making fun of us.
I also forgot that I am part troll, I died in November 2004, and then regenerated back to life in three days. I think my Christ-Complex may have had something to do with that as well. [:)]
