Is there a site that one can download the commands for HTML and Java from? I ran several searches on Google but only come up with plug-in scripts things and people wanting to sell you training books or have you take instructor courses, (Easily learn complex HTML coding in only 8-hours for just $3,850.85!) I have been wanting to mess with web-pages and I just found out that phpbb is ran off HTML as well, so I thought that was kinda kewl. Do I have to just breakdown and by a book or two from Barnes and Noble [?]

Oh and is there something for XML as well?

I always find books to be best, but there are plenty of free tutorials online covering a variety of concepts. Java (assuming you don't just mean JavaScript) is the most complex of the things you listed, and the one that may take only 21 days to learn but a lifetime to master. It's little removed from C++, really.

HTML and XML are simple. XML especially. XML doesn't even have predefined tags, you just use them as you wish. http://www.w3schools.com/xml/ is the first XML tutorial that popped up in a search on Google. I glanced through it and it appears to be free and to contain a fairly complete walkthrough of the basics. If that doesn't cut it, do what I did and Google +XML +tutorial and you'll find dozens of them, most of which are free.

http://www.w3schools.com/html/ is the same site's tutorial on HTML. They ask for donations all over the place, but I didn't see anything that required payment other than their "earn a certificate" sorts of programs.

As I said, Java is a huge topic to cover and I'd recommend getting a book if you're really interested in learning that, as any free online tutorial is going to leave huge gaps in its treatment. Even a book is unlikely to teach you more than the basic rudiments.

Good luck!

There are sites out - at least when I had to take an HTML class - that can help. I think netscape had some help pages on their site. Whatever you do, don't try and figure out a FrontPage designed website - too much garbage is included.

Thanks much for the detailed info! Yea I figured it would be best get books... (and study them, LOL), I was just hoping for an "easy" route or something though, heeh! That Java does look soo fricking complicated, you have to be very dedicated to get good it. Oh and I did a search for the NetScape sites and I just found one that gives extension to HTML, so I am assuming those are just specific to NetScape itself?

http://wp.netscape.com/home/services_do ... sions.html

That Frontpage, I thought it was suppose to be easy to setup nice pages with it, though when think you got it exactly how you want it and then goto preview the page; it turns out to be all misaligned. I hate MS, I hate Bill Gates! Its probably just my inexperience intervening with my progress, maybe I just need to mess the options and setting a while longer? Either way I still hate Bill Gates! [:D]

Here is another interesting site I happended upon today. It came up in a search I ran, never heard of this organization before but it seems pretty neat.

NCSA - National Center for Supercomputing Applications

java.sun.com can help as a Java reference, but I suggest "Java How to Program" from Dietel and Dietel, it's how I learned it. I haven't picked up an HTML book in years, though, so I'm afraid I can't be much help in that respect. Good luck!

Thanks Soul, I will definitely check out that book will probably wind up special ordering it though, our book store never seems to have the book you want. [V]

I was thinking that programming is kinda funny like the martial arts; they say that one can not truly learn the martial arts through reading, though one can come to understand it. [^]

As far as html is should be rather easy learning it off the web... I learned it of a HTML in 21 days book.... As far as java, u really should get a book. It can be very confusing, plus it will be wrothless unless u learn some of the more complicated commands....
