Okay, so I've had Vonage VoIP for the last year or so and it's really starting to annoy me. Does anyone else here have VoIP? What are your results?

I have a 3meg cable connection and my bandwidth settings for VoIP are at high quality with 90kps - not even close to the 3meg I have. The problem is, when I am on the phone my connection gets choppy. I have lost my connection to TW servers on occassion as well. Well, Vonage people are not much help with this and ask you to try the obvious things such as ports and speed tests on my connection which of course are not the problem.

Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that it is cheap and reliable, but not the fact that it's messing with my connection. I am considering switching to another VoIP carrier such as AT&T Callvantage, but thought I'd ask here if anyone else has had better luck or suggestions.

Dude, use Skype. Kick Vonage to the curb.

I only use Voice over IP for online games, I use TS for most stuff. Ventro is another popular one I think.

I use Vonnage myself, and don't get the chop anymore. I set it to a lower setting and it seems to be straight now, but I did have the chop before, and let them know about it and they are looking into it, but you know how that works! Can anyone say circular file?

Yea. Customer Service at Vonage is a joke. It took them 4 months to port my number to their service. I'm going to shop for a different provider if they don't get it straight in a day or 2.

There is nothing I like better than taking business away from traditional phone companies (i.e. Ameritech, Verizon) but the customer service with this program is awful.

I had vonage for 2 years before I moved and lost high speed internet <sigh> But I always had great service with them, can't recall one time it going down. Guess it just depends on your internet connection, cause I never lost internet speed either.

The move I made to comcast Broadband might have something with the chop disappearing too. 4mbs and all. thinking on upgrading to 6mbs for $10 bucks more.
