Wildstar,
If you wish I will host it, just get me the edits you want to play under and I will put it up on my server.
If all are okay with it? I have a fast server and it runs fair, and I will monitor the game for any problems or foulplay, through the spy window or in Ambassador status only, so I can only look at the problem and not be an active participant.
I have my own reservations on fairplay, and think cheating of any kind is wrong, but if a sysop plays, as long as he follows the rules of the game, shouldn't be called a cheat, along the same lines if he gets caught at cheating, then it should be brought to all involved's attention. But in general I agree with Doog.
Like I said, I run a fair server and try to keep it that way. It is a relatively new server, and my players like the way I keep it that way.

Play where ever you like. Play where ever you like the games or the people you play with. I kinda think that a site where the hotshots don't play is not really such a bad thing.
Is his games even open? last time I was there a couple days ago, all his games were closed and most were listed as being banged back in October. Last time I played there, most of the games were closed and the few that were open were just wrapping up. I thought something odd was going on but I really didn't give it much thought at the time. Odd things seem to happen on that sight from time to time. This isnt' the first time I've herd of something like this has happon there. Probibly won't be the last.
I have had the game freeze on me before and logging out and back in didn't fix the problem. It happened a few tiems so I didnt' go back there for a while. I've also had some weird lag happen while playing a game there. The people I was playing with didn't notice anything and the other game I had going didn't seem to lag any. I don't know what the problem was. thats about as weird as I've seen it first hand. I have had friends complain about the site before though.

Bloodangel,
After reading your post, why don't you check out ultimatetw. They seem to have the kind of players / games you are looking for. None of the "billy badasses" or "hotshots" play there. And many games last a long time.
I've said it in many threads before. There are competitive players, and players who don't play for competition. But it all boils down to game knowledge in the end. In a different thread you mentioned you had to have a high speed connection. One of the top players of today is still on Dialup, and another Blue player I would always be willing to corp with is on dialup. They simply macro commands so they don't appear as slow moving.

I was amazed at how fast i could do stuff once Someone took the time to show me how to do macros using Swath. even so. it wasn't nearly as fast as they could do the same thing with their cable connection. it still beats the hell out for using Jtwat with TWX and Zoc like i was doing before that. Even with what i know now I still wouldn't go up against most people out there in a macro battle at SD. thats why i stick to the parts of teh game I enjoy and leave the player killing to the people who are good at it and do my best to stay out of there way when they do it.

Well, there is some latency, but if you on dialup sent the macro m 1234^M a y 9999^M. And I sent the same macro, there would be little difference. Now how fast the person on the receiving end of that saw it is based on their connection, but a macro is a macro. 34kbs or 1.5Mbs you are talking about a insignificant number of bits. Assuming 1 byte per character...17 characters, plus we'll say 40 characters of overhead (I'm guess, too lazy to open my telnet book). That is 57 characters.
At 34kbs = .00163 seconds to transmit
At 1.5Mbs = .0000371 seconds to transmit
Considering that an attack takes 250ms to happen in system.....that means the guy on dialup transmits his command in .6% of the time it takes to process it. The guy on Cable transmits it at .01%. That doesn't seem like much of a difference.
Now when it comes to reacting, that 34kbs makes a huge difference. Especially when a script is awaiting data on responses.
Now I am oversimplifying it all, there is overhead, packet algorthithms, etc that take place, but if I can play Diablo II on dialup, I would think TW can't be that much worse (coming from the guy who averages 157ms pings on servers, so I know I should just shutup).

I've never played on anything but dialup. I can't run a reactionary script very effectively, but there are other things to do besides having a script respond to someone else.

I don't have the best server, but I'd be willing to host in on mine, and DR. can do the bracket stuff.
Just a thought.
