Does anyone have a planetary population curve/growth/death cycle formula for planets, specifically class M, Earth type?
I am in a game where terra is nearly depleted, and I wanted to stock up on 100 habitability rating planets (Earth types) so I could have a reserve of colonists for my Vap Gases (who lose many colos/day). But, it looks like, with 80,000 max colonists on the Ms, they may not produce as much as I would like.
But, I don't know if they produce more, like a burst at extern, or they just accumulate over the day.
Let me know if there is a formula for "# of colonists on M-type will produce x growth/day" and if extern produces a burst of growth.
Thanks.
ps I wanted to write a story of a colonist, being taken from Terra and put on a Vap Gas, seeing millions around him die, and shuffled around from factory to factory and planet to planet, eventually jettisoned into space because of a stupid mistake by the owner of the planets...

Colos accumulate over the day.
It would be useful to know what the edits are. In a stock game class U’s are not worth the time to build. It would be best to just make another M and put the colos there.
What I have found is if a planet will hold 80k colos on ore the optimum number of colos for production of ore would be 1/2 of max so 40k and anything above that causes production to fall.
Here is a link to The Planet Handbook not sure if that would help but worth reading.

Actually, what I am asking is if anyone knows the rate of colonist population growth (CPG).
Is CPG determined by planet type? I would assume the 100 habitability and 1 hazard level of the Ms that I am using now contribute to CPG. I assume that 75 habitability and 15 hazard level on Us are causing colonist die-off.
I want births, not deaths. Can I get an appreciable number of births on an M-type planet, and what is the ideal population level to maximize the number of births/day. I would like to get around 9,000 births/day.
My initial impression is that I will get about 2,000 births per day with an M-type that has max colonists 80k/60k/60k (I am actually putting 75k/55k/55k so I have room to grow).
My initial impression also tends to say that the more colonists you have, the more births you will get. I will have to look into which planet has the best hazard/habitability rating with the most capacity for colonists. This will no doubt be based on the specific game edits.

I don't know the direct relation between habitability and hazard in terms of CPG. However, I do know that the planet letter can be editted independantly of the habit and hazard, and I assume it plays no part in it. I assume you have tedit access to the edits and that's how you know the habit and hazard?

well, i can see these are not stock planets.
first. yes, colonists reproduce continually.
the max would be a 100/0 planet with 500k colos producing product.. i think that could get you 9k a day maybe, i think its more like 1% or so. (which would be 5k)
and if they max at 80k 60k 60k i'd say you most likely wont get near 9k a day reproduction even with all 3 maxed.

Ok, great. I think I will perform further research to come up with the numbers I need.
I do not have access to tedit; the sysop put the editor screens in the planet spec ansi files so we could see the planets' edits.
Thanks.
