This is certainly very true, and I know many of these strategies. The problem I experience is twofold. First, most of the guys that are flying around killing everything that moves to lock the game out in 2 to 3 hours are running some pretty nice advanced scripts, something that I don't have. Even if I join the game at the exact moment as these guys, it's usually only about 20 minutes before their resources far exceed mine, especially if there are three of them in there running some sort of "share" script that makes their characters all operate as one.
Anyway, the second problem is, even when my advanced scripts do work, I have to get in at the exact moment as them. Anyone attempting to enter the game 1 hour after it started, with one of these players in there, is just not going to make it.
Now, mind you, I'm not crying, nor am I complaining, please don't think that I am. I see their strategy as perfectly legitamate! If you can write scripts like that, or bots, or whatever, then more power to ya using them to lock out games.
No, I'm just stating the facts as they stand, and saying I remember the good old days, when I used to get stoned and play my guitar around the camp fire.... er wait... was that my point? I can't remember....

true, if you are playing against DU in an unlim and there are 3 of them in there at bang, well unless you have a hell of a corp and a full one at that, they are going to out resource you like crazy and be able to "arbitrarily" kill you at will within first 30 minutes but discounting them, in an unlim (as i assume you are talking about since most turn games arent lost in an hour) if you are playing regular peeps, if you just play it smart, they won't be able to lock it down regardless of the "advanced" scripts they are running. the key is to know what their script is doing (even if you dont know how they do what they do, like me) key 1:play smart key2:teamwork. obviously if you playing solo key2 is moot. take advantage of opponents weak points, take advantage of their over confidence with their "advanced scripts" and most of all, talk smack on fed to give them over confidence, heh. i would say big12 is one of the best script writers i know, and his scripts (from what i have seen him use) are definantly "advanced" and if you see him coming, its best to avoid him, heh. but there is always ways around it. let the enemy underestimate you, for when they are #SD#, it doesnt matter how good their scripts are teamwork is definantly key, EX: in the previously mentioned game, it was angus and new dawn vs. krimson, fox, willy, and nas-t. angus called in me and jez. krimson then called in big12, uncle sam, and tw55. personally i think all those players on opposing team are very good and i think most people think we shouldve got our butts handed to us. and i think if one member of our corp was gone, it doesnt matter which, it may have gone that way, but we work very well as a team, and with that teamwork, you can overcome even odds like that (which we did in a matter of 2 days)
hmm, well i think that is as much (and even more) than was needed, heh, dang sgo, now you got me writing books hehe

I'd just like to point out that in your previous post, you said that all the strategy has been taken out of the game

I agree that your problem is twofold, but I think they are different problems. The first is that you are playing against people who are more prepared than you. That is a sure way to lose a game. It sounds like you are playing against people who are better coordinated and better equiped.
This partly leads into your second problem. It sounds like you are trying to play the wrong type of games. If you can't have the super fast cashing scripts or an immediate start with a coordinated corp, unlimited turn games are not for you. Also, if you can't get together a full corp, you should try to pick games with the same sort of players as you. You can't expect to go up against a corp that is better organized and better equiped in any game and expect to win. If you're playing an unlimited turn game, the eventual loss is just that much quicker. However, just because you lose quickly it's a mistake to assume that those that are beating you aren't using strategy. If you are consistently getting beaten, it would appear that those beating you have better analyzed the edits and have their strategy nicely laid out for what it takes to win.

Exactly! I never said the strategies didn't exist any more, just that they have been rendered moot by the scripting and bot use!

That's one spin on things, and from your point of view, I guess you're right. Shrug. Can't really argue with it.

Again, from that perspective, you are right! It is pointless to play an unlimited turn game if you don't have a full corp, with full bots and triggers, and people to play your turns for you when you aren't there, IF there are corps in there doing just that.
Exactly.
We agree.
I think that was my point to begin with, or was it that I miss playing my guitar and getting stoned around a camp fire? I'm not sure any more

Massive scripting and almost instantaneous ZTM maps, and three guys sharing not only each other's explored list, but also able to manipulate each other's characters using remote scripts, [B][I]took all the strategy out of the game.[B][I]
If you think that strategy has been rendered moot or been taken out of the game, that is why you are having problems. Someone with that sort of opinion obviously fails to understand the intricacies of a game. You lose because the other corps better evaluate what it will take to win, and then execute their visions. But hey, what do I know? If you don't agree, it must be rubbish, right? Heaven forbid you actually LISTEN to advice from someone else.

in an unlimited game, you can very much win solo against a corp if you utilize a good strategy. granted, unless you are DU you can't rely on outcashing the **** out of everyone and surrounding fed right away, you will have to think of other ways. i personally witness angus play solo against a corp and take them out (i was on the corp) of course if i was online at the time he woulda thought twice hehe
and for unlim if you have a corpie who "doesnt run turns" you arent losing anything as you have unlim turns, you are just wasting space. (yes you could do two things at once, but i have experienced that those that dont play their turns, often dont contribute when they are online much either)
