Well put an invincible Ferrengal in the middle of one of the globes, with it modified to be extremely tough, lets say 50,000 shields, and 10 mil fighters just to start with, and make the Ferrengi quite aggressive, and Stardock in the middle of the other set. can you modify the sectors to make them Ferrengi? For that would be quite something else, since they attack anyone in thier space, and try and take all planets that are in thier space also. Humm, see a series onetime theme game After people played it once wouldnt' be able to use it again, for all the mods, don't think you could put in a random factor to mix it up again.

After reading this thread I'd play...at least to see what it would be like. Sounds interesting.

Now that I think of it, cluster about 500 ports all connected around each of the class 0 ports, around SD, and around Fed 1-10. Then all the ports that you need to survive are in heavily concentrated areas of very high activity. You could still build more in open space like at a base but you would have to venture out to find bases for invasion. It would completely separate making cash from invasions and eliminate the "just by chance" find of a base by running ports or looking for other ports.
Cherokee, does this sound like a t-edit script you might be able to do up? Something to rearrange ports in a user entered size around a particular sector. For instance enter universe size, enter cluster size, enter number of clusters, enter sectors to cluster ports around, and let it go. It would of course require the sysop to figure out how many ports he wants and how many in each cluster to total all the ports in the game.

Vader, I think I would play, but then I am a newbie, and still adventurous.

Actual I am toying with an idea also for a different server that doesnt' really care for reds, I am trying to get people to use other ships besides the ISS as far as blues go. And trying to make it where reds could survive.

I like what Boss suggested. The more I read and hear the more interesting it sounds. Kinda like having galaxies with dead space between.

I would be glad to run a game of this sort, but someone will have to devise a way to put all of the ports together that way, other than spending a few hours in tedit doing it manually.

Well if someone like Cherokee, SupG, Xide, etc could make up a TWX script for t-edit that could do something like that I think it would get more play than some think. It would be an interresting change to the strategy involved in the game. I would sure give it a try if someone could do it.
