Tonight Dell Bond Logged onto Memphistw.org, came into game C and announced a game that was banging on his server,

Now to me this is a very disrespectfull thing to do, does anyone else agree with me ?

I find that to be very disrespectful. Its like bringing McDonalds food into a Burger King, or going to Best Buy and telling the people there how great Circuit City is. (sorry to all I just offended). If they need to advertise, going to another server is not a very nice thing to do. If they need to advertise, why can't they just come here?

Back in the 'day' a BBS would ask another Sysop to put thier phone number on the login screen as a little advertisement. The new server ops should ask some of the boards that host similar games as they do to post a note---at least it is better then having some player in a game waiting to idle timeout becuase he wanted to post an advertisement in the logs.

Ok. I'll agree on that. If the Sysop of the server gives permission, then I wouldn't see a problem. But I've seen players come into my games and do so without permission. THAT is what I don't like. If they would only ask me, I might let them.

I agree if it's the sysop of the server advertising, but if it's just player's trying to figure out where to play and getting a corp together I'm ok with that. I usually see stuff like that when a games just about over or there's no competition left.

I will respect you in the morning but I won't wake up till noon.

This has actually become the plan of a lot of sysops starting.

It really ticks me off, b/c they won't come to the servers with a small number of people but rather the larger ones.

My server went through a bad time period where I went from having at least 15 users on all the time to having none for days, and I think thanks to these posting guys I lost a lot of regulars.

Watch out, they will stab you in the back and give you nothing back.

When I was running a SERVER and I a new player came on and asked for a new game and I didnt have ONE I would SEND EM TO OTHER SERVERS
providing the addy as well.

Unfortunately I THRIVE ON BIG GAMES with tons of players.
Like the OLD DAY ON TDS, The Deep South, where all nodes would be
full for REBANGS...!!!!!

Also in games on OTHER SERVERS if some one comes in looking for a new game, cus they cant get on a corp in an open game I WILL SEND THEM
TO ANOTHER SERVER...

Yes peeps want BIG GAMES, and some want various levels of Competition.


If its a RULE posted, then I will follow that servers rules.

The best way is to POST lots on TWGS.ORG and EIS forums...
Promoting games is best OUT SIDE THE GAME.

But I never minded peeps announcing games on my server....
Frankly if you have a nice server, you will attract regulars.

Maybe only RUN 2 games, very good ones, like RES EDIT games.
ehhe hint hint .....ask me and I will share some kickass edits!

Any way, if ya dont want peeps to advertize other servers on your server then POST THAT in your ANSI Splash screen....
