P.S.
in a turns game you are only as good as your corp lets you be... it all comes down to teamwork.. if people dont show up and run their turns you end up having to do their work for them and this will kill you in a turns game..

Haha good god I can't believe this topic has gone on so long. Ya know if everyone here played as well as they talk smack perhaps so many players wouldn't be outclassed so easily.
Hey, quit talking about me!

I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents for all it's worth. I'd like to start by saying, naturally, Rave is right as usual in her posts above.
I'm always right. Sometimes it's hard being this good.

What I don't get is why all the talk regarding whether unlimited games or turn games are better etc... They're completely different in strategy, and usually edits as well. Turn games and unlimiteds are literally like night and day, and I don't think any player from one side can say they are better than one from the other.
For the most part I agree with this. The only exception to the rule would be skilled unlimited players who either later switch to turn limited games or players who alternate between unlimited and limited turn games. These players bring the high-speed HK skills into turn limited games, plus pick up turn management skills from the turn limited games. If they're really good I'd be willing to bet they could back up any bragging they did.

All of the talk about scripts is just insane lately too. There's a big difference between scripts and 24/7 defensive bot type scripts... and I really do think that distinction should be made. We all do what we can to play better, to destroy the other guy's ship a few seconds faster or more efficiently than the last time, etc...
I have a wide assortment of reactive scripts, from pdrop to stardock attack scripts. I enjoy writing my scripts, viewing new ideas and approaches to making them quicker, more effective, or more deadly as a personal challenge. Despite all the time I used to poor into writing new scripts, I very rarely ran any of my offensive or defensive scripts. I spend all that time on them and don't use them, just because I don't believe in the advantage they give me. I'd rather attempt an attack 100% by hand and be destroyed than succeed using an attack script... That's specifically where my gameplay goes downhill, is in combat, because I don't use any scripting whatsoever for it. In other words, if the opponent is using macros or scripts, I'm SOL.

Anyone can dominate a turn or unlimited game early on, especially when they have a corp they can rely on. BUT... I think it is hasty to assume that just because one corp can dominate on server A and server B, that they could not be completely outclassed playing on a server with new opponents.
There is no such thing as a "top dog." About the time you think you are, someone always comes around who is better, faster, more skilled and more cunning, and who will chase you out of your own backyard. Just because a player is good today doesn't mean that will hold true tomorrow when another player redefines what "good" really means.

I think my last point will be simply this... Who cares? I mean really, it's trade wars. If you have to take any of it seriously then you need to scrape your arse out of your computer chair and find another hobby, LMAO.
For the most part, I could care less. My only beef these days is finding a game I can enjoy. There are very few 250 turn games out there (talk about long term strategy and turn management)... as for other players, far too many (IMHO) take the game way too seriously and in doing so take the fun out of the game at least for themselves, if not for other players as well.

Rules to live by?
You are only as good as the last person you podded.
You are only as elite as your last #SD# or game win.
You are not elite if all you can manage to do is kill the exact same people over and over again, and do not seek out more challenge.
Relax, it is ONLY a game.
Sounds about right.

Heh, tell me about it. The game I'm in now, which I plan on being the last game that I play in, is a 15k sector, 250 turn game (a nice, long term, very strategic game). There's about 10 active players in the game. One of these is me, another is my corpie who has failed to play his turns for over a week now. Another five of the players are dupe accounts, all members of the same corporation. (Which is actually fine by me, this is a game amongst friends, and even with me playing solo for the most part the other teams need all the help (err, duplicate accounts) they can get their hands on.
Still, I'm starting to feel the pressure of not having my corpie run his turns every day. The extra 150k to 200k he could be making daily doing something as simple as PPT is going to cost me in the long run. And that plain sucks.

If ud like I can come as a temp and/or permanenet replacement for your corpie....Id be honoured to take part in the last game you play, besides I wanna learn from you before u quit the game, Id play my turns everyday and I would not let ya down.
In the off case ud be interested in risking it on a no name like me, u can let me know via my e-mail which is on the TWA site.
I don't mind at all, as long as you don't mind playing against a corp consisting of five dupe accounts. There's really no challenge in this game... you might as well know that up front. I play those 250 turns every day, but it's just something to occupy a couple minutes of my time. As for learning from me... the day I have anything to teach anyone would be a sad day indeed.
Still, if you really want to give it a try the server is at trmade98.dyndns.org. If you get into the game let me know and I'll get you signed up on the corp, for whatever that's worth.
