Well Darn! I had a "Newbie" Tradewars 2002 Server running on my older machine. I actually had a game going. Anyway, I was doing some cleanup on this old machine since I never use it other than as a server, so I uninstalled several old applications and games that I never play.

Anyone ever hear of Pool of Radiance Ruins of Myth Drannor? Well, I was just hit by the Darn uninstall bug. Here's more information on it.

Well, now when I restart my machine, it can't find ANY windows files (win.com, command.com, and who knows what else). This really pisses me off. The problem that sucks is that I don't have any of the original Windows CD. I may just install Windows XP on it sometime.

Bummer, so this game is history isn't it??? I was playing in it, I wasn't winning at all, but I was in the top 10. Are you going to start another server up for a long term game??

Well, I'm going to stop by Best Buy today and pick up Windows XP. The computer that was running TWGS was running 98, so it was about time I upgraded. I'll try and do the upgrade as soon as I get back later. The Tradewars 2002 game is still intact -- I just can't get Windows to boot up. If I can get the computer up and running later today, I'll start the game back up again. I'll post more information here.

You didnt seem to list your board, Nor did you ask a question.
So you just wante dto post to say you lost your OS?

That aside.. I doubt the EIS files are harmed so as long as you leave them there then the server itself will be okay on your re-install. I must say that that must be one crappy uninstaller tho :)

Doh, my bad. It was the minex.org server at port 2002. The only thing I was seeing on Saturday was red. Anyway, doesn't matter. I tried to rescue the computer, but in the end, I couldn't do it. I couldn't get Windows XP installed on my system (it kept freezing). I ended up using another PC. I'll probably start another game in the near future. In fact, I have a server up and running right now, but I'm just doing tests on it right now.

Yes, the reason for my original post was to inform people as to why the server was down (I had no other means in getting the message out).

I guess at this point, I'd like to know what kinds of games people are looking to play (stock, non-stock, unlimited, newbie?) I'll do some research later... right now, I want to enjoy whats left of my weekend.

As for rebuying 98 SE:
http://www.nextag.com/Microsoft_All~win ... mainz5-htm
http://mysimon.search.com.com/search?pg ... 98&cn=3513

I am sure that there are still places selling it for under $150, you have to look around. A lot cheaper than a new license of XP at $300, besides XP may not run properly on your old system.

Cheapest price I found for you is:
http://www.tekdeal.com/item.asp?n=wind9 ... windows+98

$89.99 with free shipping. I think you may have to buy a hardware item, but that system needed a better hard drive anyway if the old one is failing.
