Generally speaking what is the "% of max" trying to communicate?

Will you get better trades out of a lower % or a higher % ... -or- does it have nothing to done with trading?

What is % of max?

Hi hi ;
Since the question was very vage and in players area I'll have to guess its not a bang area question where you may be talking about % of max as in ports in game.
This being said , you must be talking about Psychic Probes reporting % of max trade.
What this means is if you get 75% of the best price you will not recieve 1 , 2 or 5 exp.
When port trading if you get 98% of max price in a trade you may get 2 exp for this trade.

I hope this answers your question.

One thing to consider, and this may not be related to your question, is that a port returns higher offers the closer to max when selling, and you buy cheaper when at max. I can't remember where it is better to move on and trade somewhere else in regard to profit vs turns, but think it is when a port is down to about 40%. The decision to move on should also consider port density for the game as it may be hard to find ports sometimes w/o using a lot of turns. If it is an unlimited turn game, I don't worry about it, I usually play very high turns or unlims.

Vid pretty much covered the psychic probe returns (waste of cash buying one IMHO).

Not to quibble, but you get 1 exp point for 98.0 to 98.9%, and 2 exp points for 99.0 to 99.9%.
