Well there are still variables here that have not been layed out.
1- quantity of upgraded ports
2- quantity of product avaliable for sale.
3- type of product avaliable for sale.
4- capacity of planets used.
5- capacity of ports to be sold to.
6- planet trade % setting
example- 500 maxed(mbbs),xxb ports = 16,250,000 equipment capacity (approx), as i used 32,500 as max per port.

Figure a good port with 100% planet trade buys eq for around 160-170 creds per unit. (depending on how much you get to haggle before it says "our final offer is"
A good Organics port will get you around 100 credits per unit under the same scenario.
A good Fuel Ore port will get you around 55 creds per unit.
It costs about (this is very rough, since there are tons of variables!) 65-80k creds to buydown 2500 units of org from an average, non-upped org selling port.
It costs about 130-160k creds to buydown 2500 units of eq from an average, non-upped eq selling port.
That gets you something like 180k profit from Org for 11 turns (10 buydown, 1 trade)
or 260k creds for 11 turns with eq. or 16k per turn with org and 23k per turn with eq. As good or better than SDT. Not as good as Megga Rob. You just have to have the right ports.
You can increase that ratio by upgrading the good buyers to max. So you only have to manage a few good buyers, and just use any old seller.
Also, the more you have to move your planet, the more fuel ore it takes. So, you either want to use an H for planet trading, or you will be using turns to refill ore on your mobile. That cuts into your profit too.
Of course, if you have collies making the stuff for you, well, you are that much more ahead. You should be able to look at the production rates for your collies and figure out what the best place to put them is. More often than not, it's actually Ore. (there are usually 1:1 ore producing planets, but few 3:1 eq producers) But you also want to examine the fig production too. A good fig producer can make more once you take the free figs into account.
There isn't really a better answer. You have to look at the edits, run the numbers, and figure it out for yourself. Sometimes you have to go into a game without knowing all the variables, like planet upgrade times, or how many corps you are going against. Those things can shift your strategy and ultimately your income too.
