 Quick question about navhaz

I am fairly new at TW, and just have one quick question...

If i have a planet at the end of a shallow (3 sector) dead end, and i want to mine and navhaz the sectors leading up to the end, what is the best(cheapest) way to make navhaz, and how do i find out how much the navhaz dissipates each day?
