I currently have a spare windows box lying around, and am considering running a TWGS server on it. I will need to buy a license, I know, but the issue is that I don't have a static IP, and I'm running through a Linksys DSL router. Does anyone know of a way to set up so that a hostname points to my machine no matter what IP I am, so that I could set up such a server?
Second, assuming I could get the server up and running, would it be worth running the Gold addons? Also, will TWGS run under Win NT? I am considering flattening that box and loading NT on it, although I could load XP instead. Any specific suggestions?
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the world's not out to get you.

you can use a dynamic ip service such as dyndns.com to provide a hostname that will follow any ip changes your internet provider throws at you. youll need to use a program that will automatically update the aliasing service but these are easy to find and configure. i strongly recommend direct update by william levra-julliet.
gold addons will allow you to expand the editing possibilities of the game. if you want to try to attract players with new and exciting edits i would seriously consider going the whole nine yards and getting the full twgs gold package.
twgs runs perfectly fine under windows nt. some problems have been reported when running the server under windows xp as a service.
