ooh ooh! I know I know! It's that time phase thingy error bug thing

Edit: seriously.. think the time phase shift thing's for real. Ppl have been complaining about it.. Think the fix is to upgrade to 3.12

yup 3.12 is "stable" so far concerning the time sync bug.
phx, thats why you dont put 20k figs in the MSL's. the fed's dont appreciate it, hehe.

Extern runs on a 24 hour timer. If the game time changes and the server doesn't get restarted, extern will still run 24 hours after the previous one, but it might be early or late in relationship to the game time. I'm not sure if this is fixed in 3.12 or not.

i've got a few quick questions about major space lanes... is there a way to know exactly where the msl's are without going back and forth to the stardock? is there a way to make a game where the msl's are beaconed (without getting in there and making beacons in twgs)? i think it would nice if you could see exactly where the msl's are, that way you can find a safe route to sd and such

negative. It has to be done either in the game or in tedit. You can however find out what the msl's are without running them...just use the ships computer to plot the courses.

As long as you don't have any MSL sectors set to avoid, when you are moving between stardock and the other places the game will automatically use those lanes. I don't know where you got the idea that this was a safe way to go though as your only gauruntee of a hazard free trip is right after exturn.

heh, msls are NOT safe, often they are the least safe because that is where most people to come from. if you know where the two class 0's are you can plot the msl's.
just remember, the msl's are:
terra<->dock
rylos<->dock
ac<->dock

terra to class 0's are not (i never knew that till k3 told me, and i still love his explanation as to why: "because thats the way it is programmed" heh)

well is there a way to give every new player a density scanner? starting off blind is horrible, especially if you've never played before. double so if the game gives you a planet to start. Abusing exturn and mining or laying traps in MSLs brings down the quality of the game, in my opinion. I'd like to see everyone able to get to and from stardock and the class 0 ports safely. A good way to do this is to make the fed patrol the MSL all day long, to make sure they are clear.

ya, forgot ac<->ry
my bad, heh
coldline, there is a way to give everyone a dscanner to start with, put offensive figs around the dock after extern, that will put them in a nice pod which has a brand new density scanner installed.
but to answer in a non-sarcastic way, no, there is nothing in tedit that will give a player a density scanner right away.
btw, have you ever played a game where the stardock isn't displayed??? a turn game with no displayed stardock??? i suggest you try that out and then see if you are still complaining about having a dscanner to start when the stardock is displayed. :) its been probably a decade since ive played a real turn game with the stardock not displayed but man, those were the days :)

Yes , I've played a game with stardock display set to hide or no.
I takes another way of thinking and ztm'n to find .
Not going to get into that now.
As for is there a way to start out a game with dencity scanners .. yes.
SysOp , GameOp has to go into Tedit to edit the starting ship and the scout ship to have them .
Then when game runs players will have them. [:D]

yeah i have played where stardock is not displayed, and yeah it was tougher. But it added a kinda of mystique about stardock tho, but at the same time, for the game to flow well knowing where stardock is important.

sounds good, thanks vid kid.

Im not saying everyone one should be safe at all times no matter what, lets-hold-hands-and-make-peace. But what i am saying is that starting a game blind and while attempting to get to sd to buy a dscanner you get pod'd by mines or fighters is really lame. You just started that game, time to find another.... (or work with a pod/scout)
