 Stardock and Class 0 ports

Well was thinking of joining a game, and found out that Stardock and all 3 class 0 ports have just been destroyed this morning. [B)]

Now bunch of flack coming across the forum of the server. Well some say tha it grows back, is this so?

About how long does it take? Second question is when running a game, how would one strenghten SD and the 0 ports to make this not happen?

They DO come back after a few days OR the Sys-Op can port at them using a uh...what's it caled...Diplomat type account...frell it. Anyway! The recreation either way makes it harder to kill next time from what I understand. So you could enter a game before it is opened, kill it and regen it several times...should make it stronger.

Yes the sysop can port at them using the Observer account and rebuild it. Exactly what I was thinking of, each time you kill a class 0 or 9 port the next one has a defensive rating 2500 higher even if its not the same one. They start at 2500 for the first one, 5k for the second, 7500 for the third, and 10k for the fourth. I imagine if you kill off and rebuild one of them a couple times before you open the game to the public then you could make the first one for them to kill with a defensive rating of 10k or higher, that would keep it from happening any time early in the game anyway.

You both have mentioned the Sysop, are you saying that the sysop has to make it grow back, otherwise it doesn't? Like if you have a sysop that says, oh well yall shouldn't have let him blow it up, for I don't have the time to enter that game right now, just live without it.

I mean without sysop help, does it grow back?

It grows back on it's own based on the radiation lifetime setting. By default, it's set to 14 days. This means class 0s and 9s will be rebuilt on day 14, day 28, etc at extern. so if SD is blown on day 27, it'll be automatically rebuilt in one day. If it's blow on day 15, you have a bit of a wait :) You can check the setting for that particular game at the game entry menu (t/h/s/x)

If you just entered a game where all the class 0's and SD were blown, you may want to find yourself another game to play in. That one sounds like it's pretty much locked up.

So are you saying that the radiation cycle doesn’t work on when the radiation was released i.e. when the port was blown up. But instead it works on a set interval cycle, “every 14 days all radiation is cleared” (if 14 days is the radiation lifetime setting that is), type of thing??

That is correct, several things operate on cycles and it is calculated from the day of the rebang not from the day you caused the change.

If someone killed SD and all 3 class 0's then
a) The edits are WAY out of wack
b) The game is FAR FAR FAR too long gone for you to join
The defensive rating goes up as soon as the port is killed, all 4 of the ports share the defensive rating..
So when one port is killed then the other 3's go up.. That means that the 4th kill cost A LOT ..

Yeah, I knew it would be way to late, to top it off, it was an unlimited turn game, which I don't get involved in normally, for I can't put in the time.

What really is the funny thing though, is the ones that did it, seemed to have awaken a soft spoken gaint. The guy keep complaining up one side and down the other about the playing styles of the corp that blew up the ports, well it was like the last straw, so he goes and blows everyone to kingdom come. They must not have realized he wasn't bragging when he said he had more resources than everyone else in the game put together.

All I can really say though, is thanks for finally ending the endless posting on the forum of the server. Maybe it can get back to being a useful forum rather than a rant fest in 2 different areas. Nothing like here.

Cheap Butt lame chumps been using the tactic of blowing SD and specials to get quick thrill of winning a game for a couple years now and my suggestion to all gameops is blow up the specials about 4 or 5 times before opening the game in order to allow the games to last longer than 2 hours to 1 week. That will strengthen the Specials enough to at least allow new crews to play a bit longer.

just curiosity kicking in, what number of times would u have to kill the SD so that it could not be killed? (by a max ship, 8.0/8.0 400k fig 16k shields) appearantly 10k port strength isnt enough 5 times? just curious.
