I was just wondering about how many sectors would be good for a 500 turn per/day game?

Also, how does the game determine how much exp a person gets for porting with a port that hasn't been visited before? It always seems to either be 1 exp or 50 exp... does it have something to do with how many sectors the world is? How many moves people get per/day? How old/aged the game is?...
