Hi, I recently started a game on a local (telnet) bbs. I was quickly gaining ground on the top corps until last week. Everything the other players were doing showed that they were fairly inexperienced in the game. Now, all of the sudden they seem to have an unending supply of cash/fighters. So here is my question - are there any cheats in the BBS version of Trade Wars v3.09 that could enable a corp to make credits extremely fast? Note, their corp is playing as blue, and until recently they didn't have but a few hundred fighters. Now they have a seemingly unending supply and roam the universe blasting everything in sight. Yes, I know the BBS version 3.09 is extremely outdated. But I'm still curious to know if these guys are doing something fishy. I've been playing TW off and on since around 1990, so I'm not exactly new at this myself. I looked over the bug report logs and couldn't find anything that looked like a glaring hole or something that could be exploited to make massive cash like this. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I would say it's quite likely they could be using a bug. As recently as just a few versions back, there were unlimited cash bugs. |

read this: http://www.eisonline.com/twgs/beta/revision.txt if you scroll down to the fixes that went into 3.10, there is an unlimited cash bug through buy/sell ships. its VERY easy to make a macro that will make you cash for zero turns without ever leaving the stardock. that is just one bug - if you read all the fixes that have gone into 3.11 you will find more such bugs. regards, the reverend icq 83250263 the.reverend@coastgames.com http://thereverend.coastgames.com/tradewars/ Edited by - the reverend on July 09 2002 06:29:12 AM |

Thanks for the replies. I don't think that was it (the fix from 3.10) since it only applies to Gold ships according to the documenation, and the bbs is not running the Gold version, but who knows. I've stopped playing there, because as you mentioned there are plenty of other bugs that they may be using. I'd rather find a fair game some place or start my own (see next post) -Ohmz quote: read this: http://www.eisonline.com/twgs/beta/revision.txt if you scroll down to the fixes that went into 3.10, there is an unlimited cash bug through buy/sell ships. its VERY easy to make a macro that will make you cash for zero turns without ever leaving the stardock. that is just one bug - if you read all the fixes that have gone into 3.11 you will find more such bugs. regards, the reverend icq 83250263 the.reverend@coastgames.com http://thereverend.coastgames.com/tradewars/ Edited by - the reverend on July 09 2002 06:29:12 AM |
