Is there a general preference to when Extern runs? I'm in San Diego -- Pacific Time -- so for people in the midwest my midnight extern runs at 2am!

Is it generally preferred that it runs sometime when people might still be awake? Should I run it at 10pm instead?

Some sysops on the west coast set their system time to be on the east coast, so extern and midnight run earlier.

Yes rompca keep in mind that if you change exturn time, there is still some events that happen at midnight. If you want it all together you have to change your system time.

You can't go wrong with central time!?

hmm... good point. I can't change the system time however since that box is used for a couple other things.

My primary System78 server (Melchior) is actually in Iowa. Once it gets upgraded/replaced I'll probably move the TWGS software onto that box and this will be a non-issue.

For now, I guess I'll leave Extern running at midnight. [:D]

I like it when exturn runs at midnight game time. It is just easier for me not to remeber different times lol. I also under stand not everyone can be online at 2 in the morning. It is just my preference. And yea if all games time were set to central time that would be ok with me too

I can't remember when Ck's system runs, but I remember he adjusted his times so that they were good for everyone, might wanna check there.

I think rollover and externals should be at the same time, and if your system is on the west coast, it should be at 3 am. Just let people know with a notice on the server what your local midnight time zone is. I can take care of the rest. Thank you.

It is best that extern and midnight be one and same (server time)
For one thing I don't have too much problems being on at servers midnight .. cause it is usally around 2 p.m. my time ...
Keep in mind not all players are from the USA , they can be anywhere in the world.
So server time is all we got to go by.
BTW extern running anytime at or within a few hours after
is best , anything before midnight is just wack and a player dead
at midnight will have to wait a long time before they can come in
let alone have those 2 extra lives back too.
