I just started playing TW. I play on tw3003.com. My question is this: I have been killed 3 times by the same person. When I check to see who's playing it shows just myself yet, he has killed me all 3 times without appearing online. How can that happen? Someone told me that it's a player killer script. How can scripts be ran without being online? I appreciate any help you guys can give me. It takes the fun out of it when you can't play more that 500 turns a day because you get whacked when it shows you're the only one playing.

If your in the unlimited game the sysop has the # turned off. you cant see anyone online from within the Game. You will also learn dieing is something you will do alot till you gain the skills to stay alive. If you like the game, realize this is part of the game. Also there are some players who will help new players learn the game and some servers that are far easier to play as a newbie. Also ask the person who killed you (#SD#) what you did wrong. Many players will be glad to explain if you have a good attitude about it.
No one likes to get killed and its bound to make you mad, just try to have a good time and have fun. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not ready to give up yet. LOL. I didn't take it personally. Just part of the game. I have been killed many times. I know what I did wrong. I ran scripts for port and trade and looped into bad space (his figs in port, killed twice this way). Then I was going to SD and hit his limpet. Each time though, he didn't show up on the "who's playing" list. His interdictor just showed up and whacked me. Everyone else who was playing showed up on the list. Just not him. The game is UNL turns but it has also happened to me and another person on the eis games. Both me and another guy (not a corpie) hit the same sector at the same time. We were chatting and boom. Bad guy comes in, hits us both and takes off. According to the list, he wasn't playing and did not respond when hailed.

If the # is turned off, it will show only corp members online. I would guess this is most likely what happened. The other possibility is the player logged on between you checking for him and hitting his figs.

Hmm. I don't know. I know when it happened, another person and I warped into the same sector at almost the same time. We were not corpies. We were chatting beforehand about playing tag. Almost immediately the bad guy came in and hit us both then took off. Maybe a glitch. I thought maybe there was a way to stay "offline". Thanks guys for your help

You can look also when you log into the server at the nodes to see who is online. Before you enter the game, maybe the person uses his BBS handle in the game.
Since I haven't run any kill scripts, wondering if you have to have your com on? Or can you have it off?
