 Ways to turn blue

OK, I enjoyed the listings of how to turn red so well, I thought I'd ask for a listing of how to turn blue from being red.
I know upgrading a starport, attacking a Red or attacking Red Figs. What is the effect of doing a self destruct on a Red? Also what differences are there when playing a TWGS version or MBBS?
