I noticed that the aliens I created in ID Zero (the default alien slot) could not be copied to a new class. In other words if I used PLUS SIGN to get new aliens, then based them on the aliens in ID Zero I would get numerous errors about error occurring in the nonplayer alien files. I also couldn't review the Planet Description at the Librarium of any alien I put into slot ID Zero. Well, I manually created a new race, identical to the race that occupied slot ID Zero. I based this new race on a different race and manually made the changes so that this new race would match in ever detail my ID Zero alien group. I then de-activated the ID Zero alien race and activated the new race. Guess what! I can now view the planet description of these aliens in the Librarium! I'm being told that others are not having this problem. This bears some looking into really. Are those others using version .61 like me? Can some of you .61 users check this out and see if you have this problem. Go to your ID Zero aliens (if you have internal aliens shut off and have created Gold aliens in that slot), assign the aliens a unique planet that is not available to players in the game, and then in the planet editor assign those planets ansi and text file descriptions. Then go to the librarium, select those aliens, and try to view the planet descriptions. Let me know if you can view them or if you get "no information available" in red. Thanks |

I'm not having this problem at all as far as I can tell. And yes, I'm running revision .61 as well. Maybe I'm just not doings things exactly the same as you? I did sorta breeze throught he post. I'm int he middle of something else right now and have the server running in the background to test something, so I just popped into it and took a look around the library. But so far I can't seem to reproduce your result, although I admit that I may not be working under the same conditions. |

The problem with ID Zero aliens only occurse when you assign them a "unique" planet that is not available to players in the game. After that, it doesn't matter what planet you give them, the description will not show at the Librarium. Also, if you attempt to create a new alien class BASED on the ID Zero class (after having assigned them a unique planet), you get massive Gold Alien errors, and the game won't run at all! I saved this game and I've sent a copy of it to JP. I'll wait and see what he comes up with. It's possible I just did something totally screwed up with my ID Zero aliens! I mean, read my posts, for a while there I was like a 5 year old playing with a loaded pistol in that Gold Edit |
