Got some questions about setting up a new TWGS with TW2002 server.
Im a complte n00b to sysoping, but I do have a basic understanding of how to play the game.
1st question.
What is a node? Is a node the equivialant of a game? 4 nodes = max of 4 games? Or is a node the number of people who can connect at once?
If its the latter, I goofed. I ordered a 100 node TWGS, which I dont want. I will only run 1 maybe 2 games max, and just want to make sure lots of people can connect.
2nd, TWGS and TWv3?(shouldn't it be TW2002?) is registered but when I go into big bang to start a server, it asks for the code again, i enter it again, and then it says non registered so I can't make any changes to the big bang. What am I doing wrong?
I cant seem to find a generic help file for sysops...is there one somewhere?

OK...as far as registering.
When I go into the command center to big bang, it wants the BBS name and the SYSOP name.
I dont have a BBS, and my understanding is that the key is computed on those names...but I never got one in the registration email.
Argh, registration is so complicated!

When you registered, what did you pay for? Just the TWGS? If so, you'll need tw 2002 codes as well. Assuming you bought all the codes, TWGS, TW2002, and TWgold, under configure | Register you enter your twgs codes, then there is a button for TW2002/Gold Codes. You'll need to click on that and enter the TW2002 and TWgold codes there.
As to nodes, each node allows a simultaneous users connection. So if you have 100 nodes, it means you have have 100 users simultaneously connected to your server.

OK good, I got the nodes correct then.
I ordered the $60 100 node TWGS and TW2002 package.
"Registration codes to enable 100 node TWGS and standard TW2002."
But the email i received shows a code for TWGS and one for something called:
TWv3 Code:
Whats TWV3? Is that TW2002 non-gold? Did someone send me the wrong code? Is that why I cant get the big bang to work?
Thanks for your help.

twv3 is tw2002 it is just the version currently using....ex tw2002 v3.55...
If you want to change things i would recommend getting the gold version also otherwise you will not be able to edit planets or ships...

The TWv3 code is the TW2002 non-gold code. You enter that after pushing the button I mentioned before.

You have to enter the same BBS name and Sysop name that you gave EIS when you registered. I realize there may be no actual BBS but you would have had to give them a name for you server and a sysop name in order to register it. These names are part of your registration and have to be the same.
You should have gotten an email similar to this, obviously changed to protect my registration but same format:
Thanks for registering TWGS!
Here are your codes:
TWGS Key: The Boss TWGS <---------- This is your BBS Name
TWGS Code: boss-boss-boss-boss <--- Your TWGS and V 3 code
Gold Code: boss-boss-boss-boss <--- Your Gold code (you didnt order)

I never gave them a BBS name or a SYSOP name, only the TWGS server name.
IF I did, I certaintly dont remember, can you look at the reg form that I sent in?
I double checked everything I sent in, I never sent in a game name or sysop name.
Sorry to be such a pain, but the process is quite complicated!

n/m I got it.
I used the same TWGS name as the BBS name (no where is this mentioned) and I guessed on the sysop name till I got it.
I know this was a noob-based issue, but I have to admit for the cost, more support would have been appreciated. Or at least some documentation on how it all works.
Thanks,
Mike

I'm sorry, I'd never ran across anyone before who had your particular issues, so I wasn't able to immediately pnipoint your problem.

I thought it was kinda commen when they stated whe it was said TWGS was a server in itself to where you would not need a bbs therefore the TWGS acted like a bbs....Just my opinion
