ok, is there anyway to protect the extra ships that you buy? I wanted to land my extra CargoTran on a planet and leave it in the citidel so that i and my corp members can use it, but apparently that isn't possible, is it? Do they have just to sit in space until i want to use it, and then leave my other ship in space? or is there a way i can shelter them that im missing? Im not a noob, but this is a problem ive encountered a few times. dammit! i want a ship garage!

thanks in advance

Hmm no way really just park em in fedspace SD then before extern runs take em outta fedspace the extern run then park em back in fedspace, or if they can carry lotta shields/figs etc just load em up if it's an early game noone gonna waste there stuff on your stuff.

make sure you know when extern runs otherwise the so called feds take em without even a knock at the door to tell ya they are, the feds are crooks making people believe if they are blue then they'll take care of ya.

The ship garage is a missing feature of Tradewars.

Just leave the extra ships in your base sector and hope nobody finds it. First few days of the game you should really run a ZTM script to find a good base to hide stuff in. Before you are no longer Fedsafe you should do that.

Someone did tell me that towed ships don't get repoed. So if someone tows a ship and logs out or cloaks out in FedSpace, the ship should be safe. As long as you didn't turn off the beam before you quit the game. Be Fedsafe or cloak before you do that. Can anyone verify that? Or do you have to be online during Extern to avoid the ship being repoed?

You have to be online with the ship locked in tow for that to work.

When you exit the game, your tow is automatically shut off. If you are in the game with a ship locked in tow when extern runs, it won't get repo'd. However, if you're not in the game, you'll lose it.

So tow a ship into FedSpace and use a keepalive script to avoid losing the extra ship when Extern runs?

weak! how can a planet citidel not have a garage??? i want to supply my corp with a nice slection of ships for diffrent tasks, one for hauling colonists/suppies, another for combat ect...

it wouldnt be to hard to implement (from an outside, totally un-informed point of view) just make it so you could land with a ship in tow and when the 'traders in citidel w/ you' menu pops up show the empty ship and an option to use it. that would really help a lot of smaller, newer corps, who can afford the ISS or corp flagship yet. heck, it would help everyone i think.

and does anyone else see zero tern mapping as broken(unfair)? i know anyone could download a script to do it too but thats not the point at all. the whole point of the game is exploring, but with ztm, you just go down the list of bubble till you find everyone. it goes along with that whole 'i want to win, lets get this game over with already' mentality which i think goes totally against the trade wars spirit. I love those long games where plenety of people are building up and fighting....

Like it or not, there won't be a ship garage in TW for a while. Just park your extra ships in the same sector as your planets.

ZTM isn't perfect, sometimes it takes two scans to get an accurate data map. Sometimes dead-end tunnels are not what they appear to be. You still have to explore with eprobes or move a ship and holoscan there to verify that it is indeed a dead end. Then you have to see if there are any one-way warps to that tunnel.

Also a hint, some people hide planets in deadends that are not in a tunnel and people never think to look there because there are so many of them.

Against opponents who are truly good, you can never rule out any sector. A good player will hide in 1 warp - 6 warp sectors with no discernable patern.

Coldline, all you need to do is find a tunnel, move all your planets over to that tunnel and use the rearmost sector as your shipyard. granted it can get a bit cluttered depending on how many ships you want to stock for your corpies to use, but it should be manageable. i've spread my battle fleets through a few tunnels and it's always worked nicely. granted, if that particular tunnel is invaded you'll lose them but what's to keep anyone from claiming a vacant ship just sitting in fed space or some other sector?

There's a LOT that keeps them from claiming ships sitting in FedSpace actually... ;)

Also ships left in Fedspace get towed unless someone stays online and locks it in tow during extern.

Your best bet is to run a ZTM script for a few hours to locate a dead-end or tunnel and store extra ships there when you are not online. When you are online, lock a ship in tow at FedSpace during Extern to keep it there.

Part of the goal of the game is to find a base sector or more than one and put planets there to colonize. These are also good places to stash extra ships too.

Make sure that you lay down mines and figs in any sector that has ships in it. Leave limpid mines too, just in case the swiper doesn't scrub his/her ship.

I would like to add...

You can lay a personal limpit, and have a teamate attach the limpit to said ship.. said ship can then be tracked, does you absolutely no good if the ship is sold, but if it is towed home, does you plenty good (hht01)..

Unless they are smart enough to scrub the ship before taking it home.

Usually when I take a ship over, I buy more shields and figs for it at a class 0 or 9 port, and if it has a Limpid I scrub it off.
