I can't for the life of me figure this out...

I am trying to setup TWGS on my computer to run through my DSL line. This DSL is connected to a router. I have the IP address which the router uses to connect to the internet, yet when I input this address into the "Dotted" area for the IP address in TWGS config., when I try to start the server I get an error about binding to the listener. If I change the address to auto, my computers IP address shows up and through telnet I can locally connect to TWGS. However, I cannot connect from the internet to my server this way. Anyone have any ideas on how to get passed this?

Set the IP to autodetect. Then set your router to forward all packets for port 23 to your machine's internal IP.

That did it. Thank you very much. My router has a bunch of complex stuff so it took changing other settings as well.

I have an SMC Barricade and on the properties there was an area called "Virtual Server". On that one I had to route any port 23 requests to my computer's IP address. Also I set up my IP address as the DMZ Server. By doing these two things I was able to get my site to be seen from the internet.

Be aware that DMZ your local IP address will open up all ports on your system to the Internet. This is not a good thing unless you like hackers/crackers accessing your ports. I hope you at least have a software firewall on your server if you DMZ it. Otherwise only use a Virtual Server for the ports you want to have accessed.

I have twgs running on my computer through a router hooked up to 3 diff computers.. I use a lynksys router, in order to set it up so I can open my ports to allow incomming traffic, i open internet explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 (this address could be different i will give you a link to check on your ip address), enter nothing for username and enter admin for passoword... this brings me to my router configuration i click on the advanced tab and then click on the forwarding tab..what you do here is enter on the left what ports you want to be open, ie port 23 to port 23, then on the right you can fill in the .101 or .100 for which computer you want to open those ports on, my computer is .100 my brothers is .101... after that click on apply and port 23 is now open for telnet...

This may not work for all, like i said i have a lynksys router... in order to get my ip address masked and unmasked i use shields up, you can get there by using this link https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

any questions? ;)
