I am playing in a gold game and have created several ports, always type 3 SBB. Once they are maxed out the amount that I can get, trading organics varies from 2,712,000 to 3,270,000. Any ideas on what determines this? Is it a random factor, or is there something that I can do to increase the maximum that they will pay?

For a thorough explanation of how ports work and how to properly haggle them, visit the following links:

The bottom line answer is that you need to pick very good ports to begin with, and then haggle them as efficiently as possible.

The SBB ports you have created have an "MCIC" value of -60 in organics, which is not bad, but not as good as some of the system generated ports, with top out at -75. For a -60 MCIC organics port, you should counteroffer 131.8% of the port's first offer for the best results. You should also wait until the port is at 100% to get the best prices.

CK, that is too cool. I should just make a link to your page and call it economy 3! You've managed to put into words some of the things that I've been thinking all along, plus spiffier charts than the ones I was messing with. [:D]

To anyone who hasn't read it, go read Cherokee's article. now.

I always wait until the port is at 100%. With the port at 100% there 1st offer is 2,612,000 if I offer 2,713,000 they do not accept, if I offer 2,712,000 they do accept. This port is maxed out at 65,xxx 2,712,000 is the most that I can ever get from this port. But other ports that I have created in the same game that are exactly the same I can get 3,270,000 for the same stuff.
