I am having problems using a Netgear router to make TWGS accessable from the internet. I have Port 23 being forwarded to the appropriate internal IP address. The Server is up and running, and I can connect to it from the internal network.
When I try to connect from the internet, it fails. I have also tried running a generic telnet server, and it also fails. I know port forwarding it working correctly, for other ports at least (I have remote desktop ports being forwarded serveral machines).
Anyone ever tried using a Netgear router? In Particular an MR814?

I am currently using a Netgear router mod.nr041...I am not running a game server yet but i do have three comps hooked up to it with it uplinked to the internet....Netgear is a pretty realable piece of equipment and usually costs lots less than others.

Try connecting to the internal ip address, not the ip issued from your isp.

Well I dont know about the brand you talked about, I have a Lynk Sys Router with 4 computers hooked up to it, and my server works great, When You go into your router settings and open port 23 you have to make sure You have the correct internal IP address specified...Mine stay constant depending on what jack you plug into on the router, but I've heard of routers that give the first Internal IP address to the first machine turned on, and the second internal IP to the second machine turned on, ect...If this is the case, you need to figure out what order you turned it on, and set the internal IP to that #

I am using the same a netgear router and the TWGS works fine (after setting up port forwarding). I have noticed that I can not connect to the server from with in my home network using my ISP given IP. I must use my local IP (193.168.0.3). However from outside my network I can connect fine using my ISP given IP.

What is the ip address I will port scan you. Are you sure your ISP isn't blocking that port?
