I have the Gold edition of Tradewars but have played the MBBS version which runs under the major system from what i understand. In this particular version it stated that it was running under "sockets". Is there a way to run the MBBS version without having a Major BBS setup? I find the megarob and a few other goodies interesting... |

The slightly longer answer is that that version of the game interfaces directly with the MBBS/Worldgroup server and does not have any way to work outside of that context. |

You can however set v3.11 to act as though the MBBS version in TWGS. This would be eliminating the necessity of a WorldGroup front end. TWGS stand-alone or TWGS w/ a compatible front end. WorldGroup, Synchronet, whatever. Its entirely optional in TWGS. Choose a front end or not, choose Classic gameplay or not, choose Gold gameplay or not, and choose MBBS gameplay or not. The MBBS mode carries on the characteristics including the megarob and attack values. |
