Hi... I'm confused. I run a Synchronet BBS that I want to have a multinode game of tradewars going. I don't want any windows clients or anything, just the good old ansi version. Do I go for the TW2002 and gold features? or do I need a different license to enable multinode? ahh... too many options! heh.

Actually I dug up my old registration code for v1.03. One of the docs said I should be able to upgrade, however I didn't see that option on this website anywhere?

To answer both of your questions.

1. TW2002/TWGS is an all in one package. It is a new version of TW2002 made to run in windows. The TWGS portion of it. It just a sysop interface for TW2002. And to make it easier for BBS software to connect to TW2002. It also makes it so that there is no need for a BBS to run TW2002. Synchronet BBS was a DOS based BBS software. It is currently a Windows based BBS software. If you are using the DOS based version. Then what you need it the TW2002 Doors version. This is currently at v3.09 . And this is the last version of the TW2002 doors version. You can get it here http://www.eisonline.com/tradewars/Download.html

If you are using the windows based version of Synchronet BBS. Then it is best that you use the TW2002/TWGS version. Although you can still use the door version. You might have problems running it in a windows enviroment. You really only need the TWGS Lite, 4 node, version. Unless you beleave that you will have more people than that. Playing the game at one time.

2. The registration information for the door version. Will be included inside the distrabution file. Or just contact JP by email and he'll get back to you as soon as he can. He is very busy with working with another software company on their new game.

Thanks Wabbit. So if I want to run the 100 node TWGS and I already have a licensed TW2002 and Gold Edition do I just need to purchase the plain ole' $45 TWGS 100 node?

In the demo version I just downloaded it appears as if there is a place to enter my existing TW2002 and Gold. I don't want to spend more money than I need to but want to get this right the first time.

Yes, that is correct. If you have a valid registration code for v2/v3. Then you can use that on. If you also have a valide GOLD code then you can also use that. And all you have to pay for is the twgs registration.

Now, to let you know. JP has been very busy with outside projects. That bring in more money than TWGS/TW2002 does. Does that mean he has abandoned TWGS/TW2002. No, he has not abandoned the game. It just means that it take him alot long then he used to. To get back to sysop's, for registrations and other things. If if seems like it is taking for ever for you to get your code. Just be patient, as JP will send it to you.

Now a suggetion for setup of TWGS and Syncronet BBS. I have found the best way to setup the connection between Syncronet BBS and TWGS. Is by setting it to use rlogin. It is much easier, and the players do not have to reenter their names when logging onto TWGS. using the telnet connection can be done. but, takes a bit of configuration to get it right.
