I tried to do a search on this but I didn't find anything relevent.. so I'll ask anyway... [:)]

I found my old reged version on TW2002v2 beta3 and was wondering if anyone knew a way to get it to read a helper on the SET TWNODE=0 sets? I tried both Swath and J-TWAT but since TW2002v2b3 doesn't listen to IP addresses, I figured they wouldn't work.

I remember I used to have TWHelper 8.0 rigged to play TWs locally by using null-modem cables, but since I don't have any, I was thinking there might be some other way to do this...

if not, is there any way I can change the outputs of my F1-F12 keys in WIN98 to make some sort of macros that will output to the "DOS" window so that they'll work in my TW games locally?? [:D]

*Laughs!* Be sure you also set your game to run in ASCII mode or you won't be able to run CIM reports. Every beta of version 2 I have outputs CIM data in color ANSI which no modern helper I've played with seems to know what to do with. [:D] Ok, in order to do it, you're going to need a BBS to run it through. Stay with me here, there's method to my madness...

The problem is the status bar on line 25 of the display area; it screws up the helper's ability to render information properly. If you run a true LOCAL game using the TWNODE=XXX method you won't be able to use a helper with it. BUT if you set TW2002 to work with a telnet BBS (the common suggestion is Synchronet), you can 'telnet' to Localhost address 127.0.0.1 with the helper of your choice and viola! you're running a 'local' game of the old door version of TW2002 with a helper. FWIW, your version 2 reg codes should work with version 3.x (though you'll have the same problem trying to play it locally).

I finally quit running the version 2 game I had online because resource utilization was a pretty serious problem if I had more than one user on at a time and I was having issues with the FOSSIL support not working under my SIO Vmodem/X00 driver combination.

well sheesh... why didn't I think of that! [:)] That's an obvious solution. Thanks for the suggestion! It's been a long long time since I set up a BBS but I think I can remember how to do it. I used to run an old Oblivion BBS way back in the day but Syncronet shouldn't be that hard to get going as I won't be using but one node to experiment with TWX scripts and such.

Hey, is the v3.0X the same game or is it the GOLD version? anyway I'll try to find it and see if my old reg coded work with it... I reged V2B3 a long time ago and just now found the files on my old 486DX

Thanks again!!! [:D]
