My harddrive crashed and I lost my registered TW. Can I get another copy? |

Certainly. Download a copy of the latest version of TWGS from the Downloads section of the site, then send an email to JP. Include your name and the name of the server as you registered it and send it to jpritch@eisonline.com. He'll be happy to get your registration codes out to you as soon as he can. |

I downloaded TWGS10155.exe is that a stand alone, or is it only an upgrade? All I want to be able to do right now is play local on my pc, to practice some strategies. |

Yah know you could have just answered her/his question instead of just takeing up space and not helping. I mean, this IS a Sysop/GameOp forum.... I believe the answer your looking for is, dont download the TWGS version, your only looking for the DOS flavor of the game. Click on the BBS TradeWars link after you hit the "Downloads" button at the main menu. (dont click on the TWGS.)[:D] Hope that helps. |

quote:Originally posted by nunya My harddrive crashed and I lost my registered TW. Can I get another copy? nunya, Was this a TW that you had run through a BBS, also known as a DOOR. Like v1.xx or v2.xx? Or was it a standalone version, where you do not need a BBS? If you answer is yes to the first and no to the second. Then you need to have the Door version of the game. The last version of that is v3.09. And it can be gotten at the following link: http://www.eisonline.com/TradeWars/Download.html Or if you want you can use the TWGS version. This will insure you have the latest version of TW. As there will be no new Door versions. TWGS/TW is a standalong server of it's own, ie you do not need a BBS to connect to it. But, you can setup your BBS software to connect to it like it was a Door version. The easiest way is if your BBS software handles Rlogin to Doors. It can be done even if your BBS software does not hand Rlogin. But, it is more difficult to do. And is different with each BBS Software. TWGS is a Windows application. As such it is installed in windows and run from windows. It is usually best to have a Windows BBS software. If the answer is no to the first and yes to the second. Then you need to have the latest version TWGS. And you have already d/l'd that. Once it is setup and running. All you have to do is run a telnet program to connect to it. If you have it set for local access only. Then telnet to 127.0.0.1 and what ever port you have setup. ie. 127.0.0.1:23 or 127.0.0.1:513 or 127.0.0.1:2002, or 127.0.0.1:whateverportyouset. Port 23 is the normal telnet port used by telnet programs. Port 513 is used by Rlogin for Rlogin connections. Port 2002 is just a port number that can be used. Port 2002 makes it easier for most players to remember when connecting to a TWGS/TW server. But, you can enter in any port # you want to use. I hope this helps. |

I don't know what email address you have tried. But, here is the address that I use to email him with. It is also the same one listed through out his TW2002, GOLD, and TWGS pages. jpritch@eisonline.com If this does not work, then it is your email client or server. As I had just got done sending, and receiving, email to him with it. |
