Given all the crud that abounds regarding the decision to disallow photons from fed, I felt it was needful to throw in my two cents worth.

As it has become a rather lucrative practice to sit at SD and photon all comers tripping the screen that has been erected, JP felt there was a change needed. I personally don't run SD photon scripts, and a don't have a complaint against the people that do. That said, I must point out that I have been playing the game for more than a few days, and therefore have been around the block a time or two, and have methods to deal with it. But that is not the case for new recruits to the game, and there is nothing that will run a new player off than for him to have his head handed to him everytime he attempts to run some turns and learn the game.

So then the best thing, if JP feels that a change is warranted, would be for him to put it as a local (or per game as opposed to per
server) tedit control. And if he feels so strongly that it should be changed, let him set it as a default of 'no photons from Fed'. That way it would require a concious effort to turn them back on every time you banged a game.

The other thing I would do would be to also throw in a local toggle to disable genesis torpedoes in fed as well, thus at the same time making it possible for a sysop to prevent the use of 100% hazard surrounding terra to destroy players returning from a ship destroyed condition, as well as stopping reds from planet busting at Star Dock Alpha in order to eliminate the dangers associated with planet bustings' by product... NAV HAZ.

Just a few of my thoughts on the subject for any who may be interested.
