I'm not sure what I am doing wrong here. I upgraded to the latest TWGS server version (the file is TWGS10300.EXE). Previously without any effort on my part, TWGS seemed to run as a service, i.e., it was always available after the Win 2000 host was booted even without anyone logging in to the host. Now TWGS is only available after I login to the host and manually run the program. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in adavance. |

I couldn't say what caused your problem. But, here are a few things to check and try. From the Configure window, make sure the Autorun option is checked. You will find it under the Server tab. And make sure you have Show Icon and/or NT Admin account only selected if you want to use them. If that is not the cause of your issue. Then I would suggest that you uninstall the service, and then re-install the service again. That should clear of any issues caused by the upgrade. To uninstall the service, from your Command Prompt goto your TWGS installation directory and type the following: twgsserv uninstall To re-install type: twgsserv install Of course make sure your TWGS server is not running when you go to uninstall the service. If that does not fix the problem, then you may have to do uninstall and then re-install of TWGS. Beyond that looks like a OS or system problem. |

Well your advice was right on the button. When I ran the uninstall procedure, the system responded with a message indicating that the program was not installed as a service. Then when I ran install, it said that the installation was ok. Obviously as you noted, there were some lingering issues caused by the upgrade. Thanks again for the quick response and the invaluable assistance. |

Hmm. I've run into this same thing since upgrading to winXP. If I do as The Wabbit suggests, would i have to redo my existing games? |

Based on my experience the answer would be no. The service install/uninstall procedure does not appear to affect the installed games. I imagine that would only become an issue if you actually reinstalled TWGS. |

First and for most: NO, you do not have to redo any of your existing games. This just removes the tw service from the windows service registry. And then re-adds it to the service registry. Secondly: If you have to re-install your TWGS. And then redo the twgs service to run as a service. Then YES, you will have to redo your games. If you have to go this route, then it is best to export all your games to .twa files FIRST. Then do the re-install and adding of tw service to the service registry. Once you have done that, you can bring back the games by importing the .twa files. |
