Any reason real reason why the cloaking behaviour was changed in revision 42? Prior to .42 you could sit at the "Delete Messages [Y/N]" prompt. You would still be cloaked, but you would be "in the game", and in particular could recieve messages such as "Unsuspecting Victim warped into the sector". Your cloak would only be lifted at the end of deleting messages. The .42+ behaviour is that you are not in the game until after you have chosen to delete messages or not. The claim in the release notes is that this helps make sure that players can't be attacked before they can respond. However based on the pre .42 behaviour, "entering the game" and "decloaking" are two different events. Its decloaking that makes you attackable, so why does "entering the game" need to move? The .42 behviour, albeit a little quirky, allowed some interesting game play where you could monitor movements in your sector whilst remaining cloaked. This is a plus, as it adds another (sneaky!) dimension to the game, and I don't see any major rorts using this behaviour. I know people complained about being able to protect your personal ships in fed without decloaking, but this is no longer relevant in revision .47 Regards, Dr. Bad |
