Can someone please explain the possible causes of a "terminated game". Tonight, I had 2 different users experience this 2-3 times each. The message the user receives looks like this: ===================== We are buying up to 2250. You have 2250 on planet SDT. How many units of Equipment do you want to sell [2250]? 2250 Agreed, 2,250 units. We'll buy them for 287,528 credits. Your offer [287,528]? Waiting for game to terminate... ====================== The system reports it in the " View Stats" screen from the admin * menu ====================== TWGS v1.01.55 Stats Ports : Player = 23 Admin = 2003 Addresses : 172.16.1.1 Server priority : Normal Connection Protocols : Player = Telnet Admin = Telnet Active games : 4 Player sessions : Active = 12 Total = 514 Administrative sessions : Active = 1 Total = 6 Total Server Connections : 6,412 since 01/03/2002 Total Terminated Games : 5 Extern will next run on 04/01/2002 at 1:00 am. ====================== I am fairly sure the 5 total that this screen reports was reset the last time TWGS was reset. I think there are a few of these per month. Is there any known cause? I don't think I've had any in the year since that was fixed. It's odd that you're getting this at a planetary negotiation prompt... is this revision .55, does the universe utilize the new bubble expansion and can players port regularly at the port? I'm just guessing here, but if it's .55, it might have something to do with or be similar to the problem with players being unable to port at certain ports? Lisa M. Wilson aka Rave |

km - to answer your question (i was one who got the termination msg 3 times), it wasn't consistent. i got the termination at the planet negotiate, command prompt, and even at the [Pause] after the tradewars ansi BEFORE the T menu (i.e. before logging into the game). this is not new to .55 or .54 even. i used to get this message at times when the gameop was using the spy window, but not this time (according to cherokee). in fact, i accused cherokee of spying on me when it dumped me 3 times in a row, heh. this time, i had to do a complete logoff and relogon to get it to stop dumping me. what game/connection events cause this message to occur? it is VERY annoying and unpredictable. obviously twgs keeps track of terminated games. regards, the reverend icq 83250263 the.reverend@coastgames.com http://thereverend.coastgames.com/tradewars/ |

I've got this on my list of things to point out to JP. Other than my own experience with games terminating due to corrupt mail files, I offhand don't know of any of the other potential causes, though obviously there are other causes. Thanks for the additional information on when, where, how, etc. Did anything show up in the TWGS or game error logs, Cherokee? Lisa M. Wilson aka Rave Edited by - rave on March 31 2002 11:21:34 PM |

mine seems to be totally random also. It occurs in every game. I have nothing in my log that shows why it terminated..and some of my users are getting it right after the login screen also. --pOiSoN |
