It's been awhile since I've used twar, but in swath or a regular telnet client you can use the loopback address of 127.0.0.1 Also be sure your port matches the port setup in TWGS. Usually port 2002 or port 23.

The first thing that comes to mind is that TWGS is not listening to the local loopback IP (127.0.0.1/localhost). Doublecheck in your TWGS setup screen that TWGS is indeed set to: Dotted (127.0.0.1) for its listen IP. Double check to make sure you have the right listen port as well (usually 23 or 2002). Make sure you START the server after you check this information or change it.

(I'm not trying to be smart, you'd be surprised at how many people forget to restart the server after they've changed or checked configuration settings.)

If this still doesn't work then there's another issue at work here. Either with TWAR, or with TWGS being unable to bind its player listener to either the IP address (localhost in this case) or to the specified port. Both of these binding errors should be reported on the TWGS status screen if they're encountered.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

I dont remember how to do it - maybe someone else can elaborate

but you need to setup a vertual modem, twar needs a modem and your sending it tcp/ip :) then you send the vertual modem to 127.0.0.1

or..if your running a router of any sort you can direct it to 192.168.0.1 (or what ever your router code is)

I guess the next question is: can you use twar to telnet to other servers? if so...then we'll work from there..if not - thats the first step :)
